Boost controllers and a new one coming from BR
I did read it. Did you read my response? I somewhat acknowledged that was possible. But at the same time hopefully raised doubts.
I am sorry you feel WE took their idea, but that is far from the truth. We had our "inline" MBC out in Oct 2003, before the JoeP inline MBC was out. We even had our revised simpler version out in may of 2004, which is before the JoeP inline came out. When the WRX first came out, the JoeP MBC i remember was the brass version. This style was the industrial fitting version with a great price.
I remember seeing the JoeP inline one, and feeling a little ripped off, but both companies hit different types of markets, and our sales continued to grow as i am sure theirs did. This wasn't and item we patented, so there was no reason to go after them for it. WE have no hard feelings against JoeP, as he was making his brass one before we had our inline version. But that statement is similar for TXS, Turbosmart, hallman, and others. AGAIN we were not the first to make a MBC. We were the first to make an inline one, and again it does the same job as the others, just differently.

I see it like this.
Dave felt that he was dissed by a company that he thinks is lesser than him. (My interpretation of his words)
Dave made a basic copy a product that was copied from a product, etc. etc. etc....
Dave came out talking trash like he was the poop for doing it.
Dave gets called out for hypocrisy.
Dave backpeddles by saying, "it's not Perrin's MBC in the first place so it's ok" after touting so much about how China is killing the aftermarket buisness.
In the end, Dave needs to learn some Tact. I'm too lazy to go to webster's and copy/past the definition.
Perrin, I've heard good and bad about your company. Both from Evo and Suby owners/installers/operators. I have no beef with anyone trying to make it in this biz and you had a right to make your feelings aware in this thread.
To those who are "sack-swinging" this isn't high school. For those accusing other's of "sack-swinging" this isn't high school.

I find this thread interesting in the business sense. I think Perrin made a bad business decision by not allowing BR to sell their MBCs. We all know that BR is one of the biggest names in Evo community. Perrin on the other hand is not (except for maybe the shorty antenna, haha). Look at how many Evos have BR parts versus Perrin parts. What better way to liven up your name in the Evo world other than have one of the big dogs selling your parts. The only downside is that you might make more money.
I didn't understand the "we won't let you sell because you're a competitor" at all. How is it going to hurt Perrin by having BR sell their parts? Now it hurts more because now we have yet another MBC to choose from.
And lastly...
Dave - I'd like to sell your new MBC... can I??? I might scratch out your logos and spray paint my name on them though.

Another point missed here is we never said he couldn't sell them. We just said we wouldn't make him a dealer (put on website, literature, and those things). Example: Say a customer wants to buy our CB exhaust. They see BR on our site as a dealer, and call them up. Of course BR is going to try to push them into their exhaust not ours. This is smart business, and is exact reason why we don't do that. But we never said they couldn't SELL our parts.
The day we said no, in the same breath, we said let us think about it. We were excited that BR wanted our parts, but just didn't feel right to make them a dealer. Our solution was a distributor getting them what they needed. We then had one of our distrubutors call them up and offer them the same part (i think even the same price), but they turned it down.
As mentioned before, we do this because we have had similar issues with others we signed up as dealers. Does it make sense to sign up one of the Chinese manufacturers just so we can sell some more parts?? NO!! That doesn't make good business!

I cannot imagine how a customer’s reaction would be reading your post. It throws not only your company’s ethics into question but your other product designs. Are they just copies of other products too? Do you threaten to copy every manufactures products to force them to sell to you? Should Cobb Tuning be afraid to sell you shifters? Should Crawford not sell you air/oil separators? Should agency power not sell you bushings. If I was a member of those companies I would be watching this with wide eyes.
The offer is always available to purchase our products through one of our large distributors. We have several that can work with you and get you the discount you were seeking with out purchasing direct. It is a shame that it came to this.

I wouldn't exactly call it a rip-off. That would entail that he took the same product and repackaged it with his name on it. He obviously put a lot of time and work into engineering a "better" product.
haha David ****ed up big time with his first post. This is a perfect example of the wrong way to introduce a new product.

Just an example here
I know this doesnt really apply in this case but take for example
Nobody could buy the Pin and Gear separately for Mitsubishi or from any MNF for our transfer cases
However Shep has taken the same Pin and gear and copied it and soon it will be avaible to anyone who like to purchase the Pin and gear separately.
Is he a thief or a Business man that see's an opportunity to make some money while provideing a product that we did not have access to before?

Basically Dave is a baby. He cried because someone would not sell him something so he bought one undercover style and reversed designed it.
I can't believe I just read all 4 pages of this for you to back peddel your way into trying to say you didn't copy it. All the smack you have been saying about the ebay knockoffs and now this.
Sorry Dave, I had allready lost respect for you many years ago with the POS 2g exhaust that fell apart and smily face flanges that always leaked and you did nothing to back it up 6 years ago.
A good friend of mine got his AEM tuned by you, his car would not even start after he left. He had to go back to his older cal file to get home. You say you stand by your product, but I really don't see it that way.
PERRIN had the choice to not to sell to you and they chose that for whatever reason. At that point, you should have come up with your own solution instead of having someone else buy the PERRIN piece.
Either way, your probably just going to want to fight me anyway.
