Boost controllers and a new one coming from BR
Perrin gets ripped off and you think it makes THEM look bad? And you don't think Dave did anything wrong?
They took Perrin's product, reverse engineered it, and are now marketing and selling it.
If it bothered him that much, he should have designed his OWN ORIGINAL product to compete with Perrin's instead of BLATANTLY copying theirs.

I believe that Buschur in good faith wanted to purchase and re-sell the Perrin product. If they declined (poor business decision IMHO) then Buschur was smart enough to buy the product, look at it, improve it, produce it, and then sell it. If it wasn't for this type of open market and competition we would all be driving fords right now..... now that would be sad. The chinese just buy and attempt to make exact copies of tuners products using cheaper (poorer quality) raw materials, and MUCH cheaper, unskilled labor (with very poor quality control... if any). I think a few here are comparing apples to oranges. I think David is also correct in his statement about how the Ball/Spring MBC was all a copy of the original design.
Competition and improvement on each other's ideas is what makes the breed stronger. It's like tuner Darwinism. If a shop comes up with a truly unique product, I suggest they get a patent on it... otherwise.... deal with it, and keep your quality up and your prices reasonable.

Sorry but I for one dont think Dave did anythig wrong and in fact it makes Perrin look bad. Dave tried to be fair about it and order one up. He stated that he was interested in RESELLING these. Im sure this would have been to Perrin's advantage as Buschur is a very respected shop and if they sell something then it works. I will continue to buy from Buschur and Perrin lost some respect from me.
So, I have the new Buschur motto, "We make good parts. It's just that sometimes we steal the ideas from other people"
Edit - The best part is Perrin would not sell to him because they are fearful of competitors copying their ideas. I guess Mr. Integrity Buschur showed them. And you lost respect for Perrin because of this.

For someone as outspoken as Dave about Ebay etc. this screams hypocracy. Plus his ethics get seriously called into question. For Dave to openly admit he copied the part should be testament enough to where his actual values lie.

Put the coolaide down and use your mind for a second. David blatantly stole the idea by his own admission. He then makes a laughable attempt to justify it cause they would not sell him one. The sad thing is I'm sure this could have all been worked out if David would have been mature enough to keep his cool and actually call the guys at Perrin and explain things.

Thing is pretty much anything out there is in some way a copy of a design or product already out there. They just get copied, improved abit, and thats it. At least Dave was man enough to admit the truth.
He didn't just copy it, he used it as inspiration to manufacture the other multi-stage controllers.
Don't forget that he took all the best properties of different camshafts a while back and created his own. It seems to outperform all others for the Evo 8. R&D used to mean research and development, but as Shiv has stated in the past (BMW forums where his hardware implamentation was copied), some believe that it means Ripp-off & Duplicate. To get to the top, you gotta step on afew little people.
