Sorry for back-from-the-dead'ing this thread, but the question below went unanswered, and I'd like to re-ask those who would know along with a half-answer on my part...

so, the samco and Perrin silicone intakes do not fit unmodified. Some trimming around the clamping area to the MAF sensor housing should be enough to snuggle it in.

I've seen pics of the ARC box installed to a stock compressor VIII using the pricey ~300$ Cusco intake tube. This car was not equipped with an ACD.

I would think that the Dejon or PPI tubes designed for the stock airbox/compressor housing should fit since the ARC box has an almost identical fit to the stocker using the stock tubing.

Anyone have any additional input?

I've searched to no avail.

I have the ARC intake and it fits just fine with the stock tube. I would recommend you get a stock tube for cheap or an ebay silicone one. I have seen no gains or losses by switching up intake tubes on any kind of box and I've had a bunch of different parts. Even though the stock tube is ugly and appears to flow poorly that is not the case.

Wideband data logging of the ARC box versus stock box with K&N netted ~0.6 AFR leaner using the ARC setup. The ARC setup will net solid gains. Another great thing about the ARC box is that it has a nice cast aluminum velocity stack on the inside leading into the MAF.

I picked up two for $200/per shipped and I have been modifying them for me and a buddy to use K&N filters.

^^ This.

I'm pretty happy as it did not seem to hurt my driveability at all, im still using the stock rubber inlet hose as well. Would you mind sending me a PM or posting what modifications you made to the ARC box to use K&N filters? I have a few Uni panel filters and a few ITG's that I wouldn't mind using instead of the expensive ARC media. It probably filters well, but I feel that 200$ is a little steep for just a set of air filters, even with my baller tendencies.

just to correct they are contructed from aluminum and they use robots to do the flawless welds they have. They are overpriced and your gains are very very minimal if any. You would get the same gains just adding a foam filter in your stock box

It looks like a giant heat soak box.

It looks like it but it actually keeps the stock plastic snorkel, which at speed or proper circuit driving, keeps it nice and cool. You are also right on the money if you were lining up at the drags however, as this is prone to heatsoak when immobilized, as most other open element under-hood filters.

AIT's read relatively low compared to other cone-style intakes once you're out lapping. (3-5 deg C lower than a Cobb SF out on the track)

I got mine for a relative steal and I love the fact that it has still from what I've seen, the best built and smoothest velocity stack inside the airbox. My AFR's barely budged by 0.3 from the stock airbox to this one and im on the stock tune, stock rom.

The intent was to use K&N filters as the foam is not ideal. First issue to getting filters large enough to support flow. For example, if you want 500hp you need ~500x1.5=750cfm worth of filter.

To accommodate this I had to enlarge the box. The project has been sitting, but I will complete soon. I can't remember the exact numbers, but I think I have filters that support ~575hp with whatever minimal pressure drop K&N uses to rate cfm.

Now that I have ECU scan I can datalog with the Omni 4bar, but with the stock box the boost would drop more at higher rpms. With the Arc box the boost held at higher rpms.

Everyone also needs to know the stock K&N drop in filter flows ~425cfm so it is not rated for squat.

^ wow nice project.

If I get around to finding another ARC airbox for super cheap I'll hack it up and try to fit my Itgs which are larger than the arc panels and significantly less costly to maintain (wash instead of replace, like the K&N's). Thanks for the idea!

I'd be willing to try out that Gruppe-M airbox/snorkel setup as well, it looks supremely functional
