I would just max out your wifes car with all the bolt-ons and if you still not happy go head and get the turbo upgrade.
BTW where in SoCal are u? I have a 99 civic hatch for commuter and a K20 would be sweet...I use to have a boosted rsx-s and the k20 is a really good engine. Any places where you can get a cheap k20 swap? i know they are expensive. what's your civic model?
Anyways good luck with your purchase on whatever you decide to go with.

lol this thread is out of control! leave the guy alone, he drives a monster of a honda and his wife drives an EVO9. I'm jealous. People need to stop hating and stop giving the EVO community the same rep as the SRT-4 crowd lol

Nothing wrong with Civics. Nothing wrong with wanting to put a turbo on your Evo.

Modding for the sake of modding however is silly. Know what you want and then build to that. A 35 will not be as drivable as a EVO green and Dave Buschurs built some greens with well better than 400lb ft and still stupid HP. VERY drivable cars that will run deep 11's.

Do you need more than that? Do you want your wife to drive more than that?

Hell, I don't want to drive more than that and I'm an idiot.

Well put bro!!
I am in the same delema, have a AMS 35r ready to drop in but the stocker is such a gem, even the FP Green .
I am gonna be doing my Fp green soon and see if i like it.
35r will just be to focused on drag and wreck an otherwise awesome handling accelerating car.

It so easy to overmod, sometimes less is more and = a more enjoyable car.

no use having a 2500rpm power band, well that is how i see it anyways

I couldn't disagree with you more. You can make at least 20awhp more with tuning alone. The car comes from the factory pig rich, and there are gains to be made by leaning it out some, adding more timing and using the JDM MIVEC map. You can easily gain another 15-20awhp with a 3" TBE.

TBE, intake, Walbro, injectors, upgraded FMIC and piping, 272s, meth, and tuning should net 400awhp. It is easier to make power on the IX than any previous model.

they way i look at it.......

FP Green..... Great turbo, but needs ATLEAST meth and c16 to get the most out of it. so if you dig 6+$ a gallon for fuel.... go nuts... UNLESS you have access to e85

GT35r....by far my favorite turbo.... i spend alot of time on highway at 80+ mph.. i absolutely adore this turbo, Great all around... but correct setup will cost you 3k+ for JUST turbokit plus good management. Can you skimp it and use it on the stock ECU yes..... but that make your engine stronger and in my opinon... stock motors good till 475-500whp and about 450 ft/lbs on one of my tunes. this is less than the sweat spot for the 35r.... personally i like the lag, its like foreplay for sex....

50 TRIM..... STill to me the undefeated champion of DD fun and Top end power.. with a sensable price WITHOUT upgrading your internals. Lets face it not everyone has 10k to invest in an evo..... 50 trim comes on 500-1000 after stock. Makes gobs of torque. and still has plenlty of juice for race gas.

450 AWHP is a FAST CAR... best of every option you can possibly get for an DD evo. it will still have lots of top end. lots down low and still be reasonable to put together for under 4500 TOTAL.... Providing you have TBE and a pump, Cams aswell if your driving an evo8

My 2 cents.

not many people have hit 450 whp with a 50 trim on strictly pump (not e85) gas....so your point about this being better than a green with meth/race gas doesn't really apply....and spooling 1000rpm when a green spools same as stock...while it barely qualifies as lag compared to a 35r etc, the green will still get the jump and flows the same amount of air.

We live in San Diego. If you go on ClubRSX.com, you can pick-up a K20 for pretty cheap. We paid $5K for a K20A2, but way overpaid! We have an '04 Civic LX coupe.

Thanks for that feedback! I have access to E85, but no one who could really do the tuning.

I am not familar with a 50 trim...

Thats why you add a little meth to the equation for us 50 trim owners.........

oh yeah, add a 2.3 stroker and have a ton of fun....

I put down 499 whp on my stock block 8 at 28lbs. with meth.

I prefer the 50 trim but the FP Green has hit 10's.......

Just depends on what type of driving she does and how much money you want to throw at the car....

IMO, I would run a 37R over a 35R...... Way more top end and good for another 60+whp, but High boost and RPMS is a must. Even with a 35r

Flip a coin and run with it.

"50 trim" refers to the size of the A/R housing?

I still cant see why you shouldnt be able to hit 430-450 whp... on a dynojet

a ball bearing 50 trim has better boost response, better efficency, better top end and makes way more power than a fp green ever would. So.... why Couldnt it hit 10s ? The only reason why the fp green has hit the 10s is because BR and his army swear by that turbo like christ on the cross.

50 trims are 1 step down from a 3076... ( which is also a good option.)
