Did Mitsu screw up on the clutch
[QUOTE=spc]Stock clutch is good but not good enough. Main problem is in the slave cylinder restrictor (TAKE IT OUT). QUOTE]
Who do I get to take this out? I'm guessing that a Mitsu dealer would not be the place to go for this. Is it a simple procedure?
Thanks

BaLListic_EVO,
Nice photo. That's not worn, that's TORCHED!! Don't blame Mitsu for that one. The resin binder that holds the friction material melted. There was nothing to hold the material together so it blew off the disc. Even if the clutch is slipping when it 's not supposed to... LIFT!

well that actually happend because i had to drive the car back from 110+ miles away with it slipping the entire time.... all that slipping created the heat that caused this ****... so yes mitsu's fault....
i got my car about a month ago...the clutch went out at 1500 miles with tooo many 6k launches...so warranty covered it and i got a new clutch...now i been driving on the new clutch for about a week...today i did one 6k launch and smelled the clutch alottt afterwards....now getting into first is starting to seem alot easier...i dont remember before if i could get into 1st with jus letting off the clutch slowly and having it idle into first...cuz after the laucnh today it idles into first and the shifts are feeling alott more loose...is my clutch starting to go out again aready?? please help...
Okay, it looks like it's time to post this again. Kids, there is only one way to launch this car without burning the clutch. You have to let the clutch out very quickly. Do not try to slip it for any extended period of time. Here's the recipe I found in this forum, which works for me and gives me all-wheel spin with no clutch burn:
1) Hold the RPM's at 4000 as you get ready to go.
2) When ready, floor the throttle and watch the tach. Just as it reaches 6000 RPM, let the clutch out fast, with no attempt to slip (you can probably side-step the clutch, and the restrictor will do the rest, but I don't trust it).
3) You will feel several wheels spinning for about 1 second, then everything will lock up and you will launch like a bat out of hell.
Good luck.

I dont think that you truly know what you are talking about. Yes, by not launching your evo it does create a longer lifespan, but i had my clutch go out at 2000 mls. I didn't launch my car either. so before you start poppin off at the mouth make sure that you are caorrect in what you say instead of just sounding like a di34 head
I sound like a di34 head because I am a di34 head. simple enough. the only manual transmission driving before i bought my Evo was at a car dealership for 3 months over a summer when i was 16, five years ago. i had to learn how to drive manual on this car and my clutch works great with 19k.
When 80% of people who complain about the clutch have aftermarket parts, launch the car, or both you kinda see a trend forming. Sure there are going to have claims on clutches that blow under very few miles. If thats a problem then either don't buy a car the first year it is out or sell it. If any person on this board walked into a Mitsu dealer thinking this car was going to be problem free in its first year of production then they, my friend, were fools
