Did Mitsu screw up on the clutch
You guys should start driving the car to it's cababilities! I would hate to see what your car runs in the quarter mile. If a STI pulls up to you at a light, its your duty to protect the reputition of Evo owners everywhere! It's sad...im almost 30 and still have not grown up.
10,200 miles and the clutch is slipping quite a bit. I drive it like I want to though. I knew what I was getting into with this car. Not suprised here. I will stop letting other people drive my car once the new clutch goes in.
F yeah there clutch sucks. I put 21,000 on it. It was fine untill me and my buddy with an M3 were launching each others cars. Now both of our clutches are gone, ha. He had 85,000 on his, though. They want seven big ones just to install a new one.
I think the stock clutch is fine if you don't do some major launching. At 23,000 miles my clutch just went out only after a night at the track with 17 hard launches. The clutch already had almost 40 track launches from last summer so it was only a matter of time before it went.
Call me crazy but I'm ordering the OEM clutch next week I don't think I could trust my self with an aftermarket clutch. If I did anything to the tranny or transfer case with an aftermarket clutch I would be screwed by the dealership. I go to a pretty mod friendly dealership but the won't cover me if I threw in a performance clutch.

Thought I'd bring this back from the dead for fun....
Especially since I took my car in yesterday for clutch slipping. It started at 6,000 miles when it was cold outside. I took it in then and they said that they couldn't duplicate the problem. It would then happen on and off all last winter. It went away for a couple of months then about 4 months ago it started coming back. I finally had to take it in because it was done. They have warned me that it might not be warranted but I'm fighting for it to be. We'll see....

HOLY BACK FROM THE DEAD BATMAN! over 35,000 miles on the stock clutch with over a 100 launches (3-5k rpms) and still going strong. No stock clutch can stand constant abuse ... Its usually the driver's fault
I DESTROYED my clutch in the first month, hahaha. I wanted to see how much abuse it could take. It lasted though 41 LAUNCHES within 25 days. I had the money saved up for a new clutch so I did not care. I had a ceramic disk Daken clutch put on for $1200 with all parts and labor and it has been holding for 7 months and feels as strong as the first day...

^^^ That is just how I feel, hell yeah. I drive the hell out of my car everyday. I'm only 25 and I don't plan to grow up anytime soon.
