with all that runner length you may be able to switch to the .63 a/r and not worry about the back pressure.

Thanks USP, the symetrical part of the header made the rest of it a tad bit of a PITA to build. The downpipe is TOUGH, the lower i/c pipe was easy. Dump tube for the wastegate came out SWEET the FIRST time I built it then I realized I didn't have an oil drain on the turbo yet, so I had to re-do it, now it's a PITA too. I don't forsee this ever being a production header.

Now, the other header I built with the T3 flange on it could very well end up being something produced. It moves the turbo over about 4" to the passenger side, no lower i/c pipe, straight shot on the downpipe. Still would be a no A/C and a small radiator though. I think we could come up with a nice 3/4 wide radiator though.

I like trick stuff. Having something completely unique on my own car just to show what we can do it awfully nice. It's not always about being able to re-sell something to make money.

4cefed, thanks for the post as it reminded me to measure the headers I built and Full Race's. It just blew my freaking mind and I turned it into a little comparison while I was at it. The runners on this header and the other header I built look LONG, WRONG! haha Check this out:

Full Race's header: Note: A bend is a 90 degree in this comparison.

Runner 1 is 20" and has 3 bends
Runner 2 is 18.5" and has 3 bends
Runner 3 is 23" and has 3.5 bends
Runner 4 is 24" and has 4 bends

The header pictured here for the Tial housing:

Runner #1 is 15.5" and has 2 bends
Runner #2 is 19.5" and has 2.5 bends
Runner #3 is 19.5" and has 2.5 bends
Runner #4 is 15.5" and has 2 bends

The header that is over in the other thread for the T3 housing:

Runner #1 is 20" with 2.5 bends
Runner #2 is 20" with 2.5 bends
Runner #3 is 19.5" with 2 bends
Runner #4 is 19.5" with 2 bends.

Very deceiving as I would have guessed both headers I built had longer runners than the Full Race header I was running.

Be very interesting to see the results with the shorter straighter runner.

dafunk630, I can't answer that question. If your car is dieing out because of voltage then, yes, I'd guess it would. Don't forget you have to upgrade the alternator wire too.

I'm on the "warpath" now! haha

Just went in the back and measured the tubing length on our normal headers we sell for out T3 turbo kits.

Every runner is less than 1" in length difference and there are exactly 3.5 bends per runner, everyone. The runner length is 20".

This all has my mind spinning now as I am wondering if the big difference in tube length and bends effects the noise level of the car...............

I guess I'll know for sure when I bolt the T3 header on my car with the T3 housing again and see what it sounds like.

I love this stuff.

Dave,

Are you running coolant lines on the 35r? I'm not seeing them, maybe they aren't hooked up, or maybe I am blind.

Just curious, as it was fairly tough for me to package the oil feed, oil drain, and coolant lines on my top mounted Tial housing'd 35r. Tough to the point that I wanted to burn the car.

Looks good dave, as cool as it was to see you run 9's on off-the-shelf parts, this is pretty damn cool. Very clean runners, I like the wastegate tucked under the back too. Very clean.

Thanks for the compliments guys. No water lines on it, it's a big no-no and warrantees are not honored if they aren't hooked up.

DAMN> That exhaust manifold should be bronzed and hung like a Elk head on a wall in some shop. Very nice.

I pulled the car in here while the service department was closed and built two new headers for the car. I found out the head gasket was blown when I pulled it in as it was smoking like mad.

Also, when we took the head off I pulled the engine apart and checked everything out. I was going to freshen it up but at the last minute I decided to pull the engine out and do a fresh aluminum rod engine. Anyway it's all back together now.

Some interesting things happened through this building process. First, my car has had this extremely raspy exhaust note around 2500 rpm forever. I swapped to a 3.5" exhaust with a Burns muffler for testing a few weeks ago and the noise was still there. I put a big Magnaflow 3.5" muffler on it, noise was still there. I tried two bullet muffler and a bullet with a Magnaflow, still there. Well the only thing different on my car than every other car that is here or comes through was the header. Crazy *** thing is it ended up being the header that made this raspy noise. I can't believe it. With the new header the car sounds completely normal and the raspy noise is gone. So that's a freaking good thing as it was very un-enjoyable to drive how it was. Second thing, I got in on a group buy here on EVOm for a HO alternator. The alternator is made by a guy named Iraggi. My new alternator is 180 amps. It comes with a smaller pulley to output a lot at idle. I changed the pulley back to the stock size and installed it. It is absolutely amazing. My car, because of the electric fan and electric water pump would almost die when they both came on at the same time. The voltage would drop severely and the idle would drop. Now with this new alternator when they cycle on and off you can't even tell that they did. I am super impressed and can't wait to see what happens when the car is at WOT. All EVO's drop some voltage at high boost, I am guessing that problem will be gone now. I did also upgrade the main wire from the alternator to the battery while doing this as it's required with a 180 amp alternator. I don't sell these but would recommend it for sure.

Anyway, I posted some pictures of building the header and such before.

Just wanted to give this update and post the pictures of the car all together, dirty, but together.

Looking forward to testing the new header and Tial turbine housing, should get to it next week.

That's simply sex talk!!!
