david, this is a new block correct? so im assuming u put new rings on the pistons. whats the compression like?

also i noticed that u orientated the turbo facing the passenger side of the car instead of the normal way, is there a reason for this?

Thanks for the really cool post Dave. Very nice of you to share all the info and be so complete in detailing what you did.

So by what you are saying there, you had a 54F increase over ambient and then a 40F increase over ambient in both the above scenarios resectively?

I am not referencing ambient vs. temp increase at all, that is not what I am saying. Ambient air on the original dyno day was probably in the 30's, ambient air yesterday was actually almost 70 degrees. No cool down between runs yesterday had the starting AIT's measured in the I/C pipe in the 90's at the beginning of the runs. We aren't turning this into another i/c temp topic.

Yes, complete new engine. Compression is same as all the engines we build, around 9:1.

I turned the turbo because there is no reason to have it the way it comes on my car. Made the i/c pipe shorter, made the air intake straight and short and was able to make a better downpipe.

This tial housing/header is already back off the car. I am going to work on the T3 header I built today and try to get it most of the way on. I just found out my turbine housing shipped out yesterday, so hopefully by the end of the week I'll be able to test it all.

Dave you always have referenced intake temps as gains of intake temp from before a pull and after. I always thought this was flawed because ambient temp has so much to do with things. Intake temps before a pull in my opinion can often be higher because there is less airflow at idle (when on the road / real world). So net gains of intake temp before and after a pull are not that helpful.

Now that I see you finally mentioned ambient temps, I see the Buschur race intercooler is not some magic device. You are getting gains over ambient of as much as 54 F! (~28 C)

I used to post asking if my 20 degree celsius over ambient temps were bad or good. I thought I recalled you saying they were bad and the Buschur Race would be just a few degrees Fahrenheight over ambient. Now I am seeing something different about the Buschur Race.

David, hows the turbo work coming? Have you received the Turbine Housing yet?

crcain, this test was NOT at all technical. I did nothing to document air temps or anything else. You are not understanding my post..........................believe in the magic.

9sec9, yes, just got the turbine housing in today. The header now has the wastegate port put on it and I should have the v-band parts tomorrow to finish the project up. Still quite a bit of fabricating left. BTW, you interested in buying a business?

USP, if you're serious, let's talk..........be warned, all I want to do is put engines together and tune. You run it, I can't seem to stay out of the internet garbage and I'm sick of it.

DB, I like the dragstrip idea better. I know my limitations. You've only found one of yours, the internet.
