Bone Stock IX knocking?

First of all I'm deff not new to tuning, I simply have not bought a cable to log my Evo because I know that once I do I will start tuning it and then adding mods which I do not want to do just yet.

Just wanted some input from you guys who have logged their stock IXs. Sometimes at WOT, it feels like its knocking a bit and I can feel the timing being retarded. I'm not sure if this is all in my head, but it feels like the timing is being retarded like when I used to lean out the old eclipse a bit too much on the afc2 and get a couple counts of knock. You would think that Mitsu would have programmed the ECU to run without much knock at least on 93 octane considering that they set it to run rich from the factory. Did they add too much timing advance stock or what?

p.s. are there any alternatives to the tactrix cable if I'm going to be using EvoScan?

Logged plenty of stock cars. Knock was anywhere from random 1-2 to 5 counts constantly through the pulls

You can make your own but there are really no alternatives that people use.

I can tell you that when i first got my IX and logged it, i was getting around 2-3 counts @ 2-3 in a row. I was getting as high as 4-5 but only maybe 2 in a row never more than 3. I dont have any mods and the only thing i did was change brands of gas from BP to Shell and it damn near eliminated ALL of my knock. Even at WOT pulls in 3rd or 4th i wont get any knock anywhere through out the pull. Most i ever get now is 1 count no more than 3 in a row.

All normal. No way for Mitsu to tune to every climate successfully.

ya its normal, a turbo car is designed to knock a little 1-2 because its not damaging at all and gives ya the power.
