^ the ported stock intake manifold has not been tested in this comparo. The initial test was with a stock manifold (not ported).

When we did the testing a few years back on the ported stock intake and 65 mm throttle body we gained 15 whp. The nice thing is there is no loss anywhere. I started with the bone stock parts so if I had the time and desire I could put the ported stuff with the 65 mm throttle body back on for a comparison.

Remember, the ported stock intake WITH the 65 mm throttle body is a 15 whp gain. These intakes are all being tested with the STOCK throttle body. So the gains with a 65mm would be higher.

Thanks Dave.

Would love to see your ported stocker and ported 65mm TB versus AMS plus ported 65mm TB. Based on what you've said so far, I'd presume the AMS would make more power but lose some down low. Question is how much.

Also have you ever tested going from 2.5" to 3" across the whole intake / intercooler track to TB?

Do it! That is of course, unless you plan on leaving one of these other manifolds on your car......which one would that be?

Any intake (other than maybe the stock ported with 65mm TB) that has already been tested on my car is not going back on for more testing, in other words, if it's been on once for testing I am not re-testing with a 65mm tb. When the testing is over I will decide which intake I want to run on my car. I can't make a decision until the next two are done. Kansai and Hypertune.

I have no done back to back testing on full 3" tubing.

I am also going to say right now that whatever I decide to do for an intake (unless it's back to stock stuff) I am not going to flat out publically announce it. Enough drama building as it is.

I didn't see the results of the stocker with the sheet metal surge tank. Has this one been tested? I don't mean just the stock manifold. I mean the one Dave modified with the larger plenum

i wonder if you will see these same gains on your cars current configuration vs. the mods that were used when the 15 whp gains were experienced....

do you recall what mods / boost level / fuel used was on the car @ the time of that test?

i know i dont rememeber, too many between then & now

I think when I tested the intake/tb the first time the car had the stock turbo or maybe the original 20g on it. I can't remember either but I am fairly sure of that.

I have so much to do to the car right now. I am feeling very overwhelmed actually. I have our half radiator in my car now, it works great and the car does not over heat. However, it looks like a drag car. So I am considering putting in the CBRD lightweight, thin full radiator. The header I have on the car right now is also too freaking low (oversight on my part) and the turbo is not draining perfectly, which pisses me off. Our EVOX is going to be here this week and that is going to take all of my time for sure.

It sucks, I am not ready for the EVOX yet. There is still so much I want to do with the EVO8-9, the development isn't near completion yet. Hell I am starting to think I can have a real daily driven EVO that will run 9.30's at 155 mph and still be right at home on the autocross course, road course and street. Are 8's in that equation? Very well could be and on a smaller turbo than ever thought possible.

I have to finish this intake testing, two more intakes. I want to get them done very early this week. Then I am going to try one more time to get this turbo to drain properly. If I do then I'll leave it like it is. If not.............I need to change radiators and build a new header.

I will then be putting on my final choice for an intake manifold and running the car again, full tilt and see what it can make. I HAVE to finish it before our X comes.......too much stress.

Yeah, but think of it this way ... you are the creator of your own stress (victim of your own success?), and that's not really that bad. Nothing worse than having some a-hole looming over your shoulder, creating stress for you. In my experience, there is nothing more time-consuming and nothing more rewarding than running your own business and calling your own shots. Keep on truckin'

David, we'll make you a deal.* We'll go 9's on the Green if you'll go 8's on the HTA35R.
