China is one of the largest users of American Steel and aluminum. The Brian Crower, Eagle, K1 crank or who the hell knows what other brand you end up with may just have american steel in it. Sure its processed in China but never the less it came from here. It's inevitable that if you buy a new crank, there's a good chance that China has been used in some way shape or form....I'm not saying I like it, because I don't, but Either way the BC 106mm crank looks really good. Here's a quote from DMF Performance Parts UK Limited's website:

"The Home of the Mighty Track Proven Brian Crower 2.4L and 2.6L Stroker Kits

Our Stroker kits are proven on the track to withstand enormous punishment some cars are running in excess of 1100bhp with our 2.6L Stroker kit. "

Huge waste of time and money for the 2.6 .starion 2.6 engines barely rev to 6800 rpm.who cares how high you can rev an engine.if your engine makes peak power at say 7800rpm why would you want to rev to 10k?your not maikng any more power at 10K if your peak is 7800rpm.

I just prefer American made components. You have better control over the process.

I like the fact that American stuff does have American steel in it rather than China stuff that may have US steel in it.

First off the Starion had 166mm rods and a 98mm stroke giving it a 1.69 rod stroke ratio. Don't just make blanket statements about 2.6 engines. The Starion had the ability to rev but it was plagued by a 2 valve head and poor intake and exhaust manifolds to name a few things. If you built a twin scroll 40R 2.6 liter, you'd probably have full boost before 4000rpm and be able to rev it to 8000rpm. The BC 106mm 2.6 stroker kit built into the 4G64 is giving you maximum displacement and has a rod stroke ratio almost the same as the 2.3 4G63 engines people are building. With this set-up, you would have over 4000rpm of max power and torque and the drivability of the twinscroll on the streets....a F*cken Torque monster!!

I am not familar with those cranks. IF they are in fact built in China, I would not use them.

Insisting on USA made products in the 4G63 isn't something that I'm willing to do since it is the best 4 production 4 cylinder in the world and was built in Japan. haha

For all we know, Broadway Crankshafts in Tiawan could have made the factory crank that handles so much power.....it's all just speculation at this point. Who won the bid to build the Factory Evo cranks?????I'd like to know!! F*ck it, they're handling over 1100hp in competiion...that's good enough for my street motor!!!!!

Mr alex's car 2.6L was finnished in the summer '08 and dynoed in sept '08.
It made some sick power with a T04z type of turbo at about 2.4bar.
The car is still running strong and awaiting some upgrades!

The build

Dyno time. First engine then hub type

Its a shame that Brian Crower has shamed the Crower name which used to represent hand made bespoke USA quality machine work by rebranding china made junk rods and cranks

Personally, I will avoid china made engine parts at all costs

There are plenty of great USA and UK companies - e.g. Pauter, Manley, JE, Weisco, Cosworth, ect to risk trying to save a few dollars with chepo china made junk

Al

It's not about saving money, Brian Crower's stuff is plenty expensive. He's the only one doing a 106mm crank that has drawn my attention.

2.6 is 2.6 itll still be a pig reving.even 2.3 piston skirts tend to lean in cylinder.cant imagine what 2.6 will do.remember torque gets you off the line(or maybe you break at the line with too much torque) rpm gets you through the traps.yea torque is nice if you had a rwd car and wanted it to pop wheelies and such.

Its not about saving $ ???????????

The crower stroker kit sells for $3,000 for crank, pistons, rods and bearings etc while a JUN or Cosworth stroker kit with serious billet crank sells for two times that

It's pretty ironic how you can babble and pick and choose whatever companies you deem as good...USA, UK....YOU"RE DRIVING A JAPANESE CAR FOR CHRIST SAKE!!!! For all you know, the same company in China won the bid to make the factory Mitsubishi crankshaft!!!! Don't judge the BC Crankshaft and Parts unless you have proof!!! Check out the Pictures in this link below:

Of course, because there's never ever been a problem with stuff produced in China.

Since you keep bringing it up, who exactly won the contract to build the OEM Mitsu crank?
