It's a thing called drivetrain friction loss. In the process of transmitting the power from the motor to the transmission, to the wheels - power is lost because metal is touching metal and gravity etc.....so your motor essentially gets dragged down.....

a lighter driveshaft in theory should reduce the amount of power lost so maybe now your could make 245 because there is less weight, which causes less friction and less drivetrain friction loss.

So it should free up some power that you already have in your car that is getting sucked by friction. So will it "add" power? I guess that is all in how you think about it. You can say it adds power, but moreso it gives you back power that is being robbed from you. You should see gains on the dyno, since that measures power at the wheel.
So, base on your statement "it gives you back power that is being robbe" it does increase power.

Ok, let see some dyno sheet to qualify....anyone?

Think I need to sell my spare rear diff and pick one of these up from Devo. For all you guys arguing over this and that, it's not rocket science, the concept is "shade tree" tried and true. Mustang dime a dozen (granted, two piece for us). I don't know these particular guys from Adam ( ), but the only question in my mind is their work and materials. NOT the concept, nor the manner in which they went about it. Being that they do have a reputation in racing circles, I'm confident in looking to pick one up myself. So buyer beware as with anything, but as a fellow (informed) enthusiast, I personally see it as a safe bet.

Why not get some dyno pulls to test actual power gain/loss since this is such an easy install?

Think I'll add this to my wish list. Got a few things ahead of it but i've wanted to change out the drive shaft to something more durable (less carrier bearings) and with less weight to get more power to the ground. I eagerly await David Buschur's testing!

for the guy with the AYC evo7...why don't u buy it and try it, then YOU can let US know if it works. Nobody here has AYC, so it doesn't make a lick of difference over here.
