QuarterMaster's Lightweight Driveshaft Replacement
First let me start with a BIG BIG thanks to my friends at Devo Tuning for first recommending this modification, next for getting me one, and finally for popping it in ever so swiftly and skillfully into my car!
What it is: It's the ONLY affordable driveshaft solution! Takes your three piece stock driveshaft, makes it a two piece, and then loses 14.5 pounds to boot! Let's take a closer look though so we don't take these simple factiods for granted.
-Losing that angle to make this a two piece minimizes drivetrain powerloss...we go from transmitting power from one axis to another and losing some of that power. Now it's just a single shaft, meaning power is transmitted with less loss.
-14.5 pounds of rotating mass? This makes for spinning that driveshaft faster and faster easier and easier.
My initial impressions: The car feels like it gained 40 WHP! It goes through 1st like it doesn't exist, 2nd like a stock first gear, and 3rd like only 2.5nd gear
.
Soon to come: I've only been able to push the car in a straight line so far. Fun and noticable, but I really wanna see what this free'd up power/acceleration wil do to the car while turning hard and tracking!
Should you buy this:
YES!!! You are NOT spending HUGE money, and you arn't putting anymore stress on the motor (less in fact), yet you are moving faster. I have noticed absolutely no problems or ill effects in the 100 miles I've driven with this peice. Best of all it's a bolt on peice...no custom fitting work or "tuning" required. All you get are immediate results.
Pics will be up in the following day.
