The Red is a stock appearing turbo. It must look like a stock Mitsu IX turbo, I would imagine. FP probably went with the standard 10.5 single-flapper turbine housing. Thus, it sports an integral(internal) gate. This answers part of your question.

As to whether the Red would benefit from a remote gate, depends on several factors: P/R, turbine inlet pressure, exhaust backpressure, flapper valve's seat pressure, among others. Usually there is early flapper valve lifting when a large turbine wheel is stuffed into a relatively small turbine housing.

excuse me then your right, but maybe the wheel is the same as a 3076 wheel! It was said in the thread were 9sec9 made 530 on br dyno, by a guy that works at Forced Performance.

Link?

I thought I remember just seeing talk of the 3076HTA come up and was mixed into the talk about the red.

It very well could be a mirror image of a 3076HTA. But I don't think it's been confirmed?

03whitegsr, I believe GrocMax stated it's a 57HTA or something wheel, which is the HTA GT30 wheel... I might have the 57HTA not totally correct though.

Actually, I think it's a 10.5 Twin-flapper from one of Tom's posts in the "round two" thread ...

I believe that is correct unless that was an early design or something Tom requested.

Mellon, the engine is here and complete from top to bottom. It is ready to drop in a car and 9sec9 would like to sell it. If you are serious about it please contact him and we can ship it from here. There are some things that will need to be discussed about the specifics of the engine and such. 9sec9 can go over that with your or I can when you buy it.

Thanks.

ok, I'll shoot him a pm and get some details...I have the transmission out for the clutch right now because it couldn't wait (gears are about to start grinding) and it would be fantastic to drop the shorty/head in at the same time but I don't know if that's going to work logistically.

So...who has EvoRed turbos in stock right now? I've seen enough that I'm willing to swipe the VISA on one NOW.

Just hope there isn't a major scarcity/waiting list issue like for the Green. PM on its way Maestro Buschur

Just noticed you're ordering a Red and have an HTA3076 for sale in your sig. Any particular reason for the switch?

If the Reds are going to be hard to track down I'll just go Green as per my original plan...assuming the Greens are available of course
