This was a LOT to read from scratch and am very interested. I have a GT3071R with HKS 272 cams on order because I plan on using my EVO IX as a daily driver with 91 octane and boost never above 23psi. But if this turbo looks like it will work for my setup, then damn I'm sold. I shall wait like the rest of you to see the results... Subscribed!

It's not like it's a ton of fun to make highway pulls in a low 12/high 11 second car for that amount of time

Been there, done that and then some for years--not that novel anymore.

I hear ya, I don't know how you have the patience for it though. I have 500awhp on tap and I'm finding it impossible to go through an entire tank of gas without getting on it at least once. I'll never know my best gas mileage figure but really, does it matter if I'll never drive that way again?

Exactly, I had to buy a whole new car to get better mileage. I'm sure someone could get 25-30mpg in my Evo, but I sure as hell can't! And now that I only drive it once a week I DEFINITELY get crap for mileage.

For the money, the stock IX turbo should be better on straight 91 than the 3071. The 3071 is, relatively speaking, a dog on 91, and at low boost levels as well.

how about when you fill up next, reset the tripometer. then when your out of gas, let us know how many miles you have gone, and how many gallons of gas you have to put back in the tank. thats going to be more accurate then integrating your pulse width over time, especially considering your injector latency is going to play an enormous effect.
Mid to high end ECU's have fuel used calcs so crew chiefs can accurately estimate fuel stops during races. All that stuff is accounted for if you have the right info to plug into the calcs. There's no reason a street car can't get optimal fuel mileage along with making decent power, but most of the responsibility lies with driving habits. We aren't limited to working around what it takes to keep a catalyst alive, aftermarket ECU's can achieve better mileage than a factory ECU if you want them to. 30+ MPG tankfuls on long trips are a certainty, daily driver avg. is going to vary.

This would compare more to a GT-30r, not a 35r

Fast Frank just updated to the FP4R intake and FP5R exhaust and it worked pretty darn good for him. I suggested the 5R exh since his engine was a 2.3, normally a pair of the 4R would be good.

We have been out of stock on the EVO9 grinds for a while, but it shouldnt be much longer for those who have been waiting so patiently I thank you in advance

For Kelford 280's? yes, those are a bit extreme.

Probably going to want to look at the FP4R, Jun 272, Kelford 272, GSC S2, or HKS 280 cams with this turbo if you still drive the car every day.

Good quality springs and retainers are definitely a good idea with a more aggressive cam, or if you will be revving above 7900 on any cam, even a milder one.

I just got my Red tuned at Buschur Racing today so I figured I would throw the results up here. Pump gas only (93 oct) 419whp on the BR Mustang dyno @29psi. Mods : BR 2.0, BR race FMIC, BR IC piping, BR intake pipe with K&N filter, AMS head, GSC 280 cams, Works o2 housing and down pipe, noname resonator, B&B catback, ported exhaust and intake manifold, AEM ems. I haven't scanned the dyno graph yet, but when I do I will post it. I am very happy with this turbo . GREAT power up top and spool that I can live with. Feels like a whole different car from when it had the White Rabbit 9. Thanks Dave for the killer tune!
