Hi guys
my evo 8 build 2.0 with s2 cams
has advance 5 deegress exhaust side and retarded 5 deegres intake side made by a mechanic
Also im running a g30 770 with vband sheepy manifold
Car is very laggy and i believe the cam settings are wrong
the car needs almost 4800 rpms to build 14 psi and 5550 rpms to build 27 psi
can anyone point out how i can fix that laggy respond with proper s2 cam setting

Nothing about those cam settings makes sense. The GSC S2 is well timed for your application and very little (if any) adjustment is warranted. Set the S2s at 0/0 and retune.

thanks for the reply
Also forgot to mention but it runs 1.5mm headgasket due to head resurface etc
does the thicker headgasket has anything to do with those cam settings made by the shop?

Slight changes to head geometry can create minor changes in cam phasing, but this doesn't alter the reality that the current cam settings remove a large amount of overlap that reduces the mechanical efficiency of the engine, resulting in a lazy, smooth idling engine with slow spool.

Running this cam set at 0/0 should rectify the problem and not create a valve to piston contact issue. If it did, then you have a different problem that needs to be addressed.

For reference, I just shaved 0.025" (0.635mm) off of a 2.0L Neon head I have, and measured TDC on the crank & TDC-locked cams put the cam gear settings at around 1.2 degrees retarded on each gear to reach a true 0/0. This depends on cams obviously, but my Cranes and Evo GSCs are pretty close to 'true' timing.
The Evo VIII mentioned above is going to a 1.5mm (0.059") HG, when stock VIII was around 0.030", so expect around 1 degree advance on each gear to put it back at true time. I'd still degree it properly before adjusting, though.

Agree. I have AEM adjustable cam gears and go through the full process using the cam card provided with the S2’s.
My block has been decked, and head is also machined. OEM headgasket.
I ended up quite close to the OEM marks, maybe 1.5 degree or so. 🤣
