Aftermarket FMIC install tips?

Bought a new intercooler and it didn't come with mounting brackets, just tapped holes where the brackets should mount to. Do I just drill out the tack welds on my stock IC and then drill holes in the bracket to mount it? The top bracket doesn't seem like it will give me any problems, the two side mounts look to be a little more dificult. Any suggestions? How did you guys do it?

Yeah, I picked it up from another evo owner. I think he said the brand was godspeed, or something like that. Either way, was wondering if the top bracket and the inlet/outlet would be enough to support it.

I had a Godspeed intercooler on my last car. It didn't come with brackets either - between the intercooler pipes connected to it and a tight fitting bumper, I just used bailing wire to "hang" it from the crash bar.

The fact that you own a 35,000 car and did that is crazy.....i would completely expect that on a riced out 93 civic but not an evo

Agreed. I am trying to do this the correct way. I want longevity and a clean install.

If you dont have a tig welder and access to aluminum flat bar, then here is my suggestion....

Use the piping to hold the intercooler in place. Go to a local hardware store and by some steel flat bar. As long as you have a vice, hammer, and a drill you can bend some brackets and not only bolt them into the threaded points on the intercooler but also to the stock locations on the car. Get some spray paint too so the metal dosent get rusty....Maybe $10 bucks for the material and $5 for the spray paint.
