I would have to agree Binky I have the same BOV and pipe your speaking of and I can tell you it was a waste of money. It comes with the recirculating kit the only problem was it isn't designed for the Ver. 2 kit and pipe. It does flutter when your making anything less then 20+psi. If you make anything less then that the BOV seems a bit slow to pull. It will hold a great amount of pressure though. I'm actually getting ride of it in the spring and getting the ETS UICP for a stock battery(I live in NY and I don't want a motorcycle battery starting my car in 10 below). I will also be getting the APS twin vent BOV. To avoid the problems you will have take my word for it since I have it already. HKS makes great product and this BOV is a great design and works wonderful but it doesn't work taht well on our cars.
In opinion for BOV's APS for stock ECU and Tial for EMS and VTA FTW

Thanks for the info! Guess I'll steer away from the SSQV BOV then...
ETS Intercooler with piping it is !

does anyone have a comparison of the nisei vs the new ets, they seem to have similar designs plus the nisei comes with the bracket welded on which is not on the ets.. will the pipe really come off under high boost? how high?
We run our pipe on several 450hp+ cars without any problems. The only reason the pipe would blow off is if it was installed improperly. The intercooler pipe is beaded and so is the turbo outlet pipe. We also provide a 4 ply silicone coupler and t-bolt clamps. You can torque down that t-bolt clamps as tight as possible on the steel pipe without any worries of crushing the pipe.
Thanks!
Michael
Well, this question seems to be asked all the time. Do you really need a bracket to support the LIP from blowing off?
There are many LIP's available all of which have different price points and quality standards. I just did a litle search since, I've seen many threads over the years about LIP's blowning off. I've put together some links of member posts for you to view. There are many, many, many more thread if you take some time to search it. Most of the threads where you will find LIP's blow off were back in 05'/06'ish era.
NOTE : In all fairness AMS had this problem and has since made ALL CORRECTIONS!!! by WELDING ON A BRACKET! Their NEW LIP is FINE!
My gift to you is "cliff note version" of the importance of a mounting bracket for LIP's (IMO). Check it out:

Here is the response so you don't have to read through the whole thread.
I'm sorry to hear that your LICP is no more and we'll be happy to get you a new one at a greatly discounted price, just give us a call!
I'd like to address the bracket issue first. We didn't and won't be using a bracket on Paul's (ifarted2) ETS GT42R car that's also running our 5" intercooler, 3" piping, 53psi and now 1009whp. When installed properly our silicone and T-bolt clamps do an outstanding job even under the most extreme conditions like these. The reason we don't include a bracket on the stock replacement LICPs is that they will fit ALL stock replacement intercoolers. Each manufacturer's intercooler is slightly different for inlet location/angle and without the bracket which fixes the LICP in one place, we allow our customers to use their current aftermarket intercooler rather than forcing them into buying ours to replace it. Given that when installed properly they don't blow off even under 50+psi, we don't feel it worthwhile justification to restrict our customers' intercooler options.
Our silicone is reinforced 4-ply and has a burst strength well in excess of 100psi. The 100% stainless steel Breeze T-bolt clamps we include can withstand 150in/lbs of clamping force (all that a 1/2" impact gun can deliver). Our piping is also steel as opposed to the aluminum used by other manufacturers for this specific reason, so that it doesn't crush under the proper amount of clamping force. Crank those bad boys down, the whole package will take it with ease!
These last two tips are crucial...Make sure that only soap and water is used as a lubricant for coupler installation if anything at all. Other substances will retain their lubrication properties and will increase your chances of a blown off intercooler pipe in any situation. Lastly, making sure that the clamp is completely past the bead and not resting on it even a little, will make it an almost physical impossibility for the bead to slip through.
We engineer our products with our customers in mind for performance, quality, appearance and pricing and there is always a reason to that end for any design trait in our products. If that is unclear on anything don't hesitate to contact us and we'll be happy to explain in detail!

I just got the Nisei because it is Aluminum, one piece. 2.5" all the way and has a holding bracket. The bracket was my selling point. Just ordered it today in Nisei Red. Very nice piece.

That was the only reason why I bought an AMS pipe vs. BR was because of the bracket. I was new to Evo's and I remember my buddies had the LICP pop off problem on a regualr basis. So i wanted to avoid that.
ETS ... no reason to wonder about any other product not putting down anyone elses product like AMS Nisei or whoever else. but their products are GREAT and their Customer Service is even better! and they a price friendly so you cant go wrong with choosing them
i have their LICP and FMIC Great Pieces looking to possibly get there UICP just trying to find a battery relocation kit first.

well i have had my ETS intercooler piping for about a month or so and for some reason the LICP keeps blowing off. i havent upped the boost at all and i cant figure out why. using the T-bolt clamps that came with the kit. yesterday on my way home the pipe acutally blew OFF the car and i ran it over...luckly i had my stock intercooler pipping still in the trunk...im pretty upset, spending a decent chunk of change on a good product but it wont stay on, and now its completly ruined...
Thanks,
Michael
