Lightbulb FP RED setups, recommendations, and advice

Been looking through the forums religiously and there are a lot of setups and amazing reads out there for the FP RED. It would be nice to have a compilation of the setups everyone is running as well as recommendations and advice for setups for the FP RED.

I will be currently running an FP Red soon on my NON MIVEC and my supporting mods currently are:
- K&N cone filter
- ETS 3" IC and LICP
- Borla Exhaust Manifold
- HKS DP
- Megan Test Pipe
- Megan O2 Housing
- Greddy TI
- Walbro 255 FP
- Precision 680 injectors
- AEM Tru Boost MBC

Valvetrain soon to follow
- Kelford 272/272 w/ springs/retainers

I was also wondering if my 680 injectors would be sufficient or should i go up. i don't want to be running more than like a 70% duty cycle and am planning to be tuned for around 25-27 psi (currently on 24psi non RED).

You need bigger injectors, without a doubt. Even for pump gas. Unless you are running alchy/meth.

Since I love lists, here is what I am running with my Red:

PTE 1200CC Injectors
Buschur Dual pumper
Buschur ported/coated stock manifold
Buschur turbo-back w/test pipe
Kelford 272's
GSC Beehive Springs/Retainers
EPM 02 Dump
Perrin FMIC w/RMR piping
RMR intake w/Perrin Foam Filter
Hallman MBC
few other things.

Going to be tuned on E-85 shortly @ 30psi.

Some ppl have said that the red doesn't come alive unless your pushin about 30psi so if you are only gonna go with 25 or 27 I would say go green? I could be wrong but this is what I have read. I would call around to some of the top shops or call FP and ask about boost levels and supporting mods that would be best for this turbo! Goodluck!

1200 injectors are huge. would that be too much of an overkill if i'm only planing to run 25-27psi. or should i just get them incase i tune for high boost, maybe on race gas.

Your Post

First for Injectiors I think 750-1000cc is all you need, anything more is over kill. The FP Red is a great turbo, probably the best bang for the buck for an Evo, but yes tuning is everything. I have built my car up for the FP Red is why I went with the M3 Cams to allow in all that air, haha. The M3's and the FP Red I am hoping will make for a good team. I am just saving up the Peso's to do it right now. My sig has my current mods, but I will be getting the FP Red, Milspec TB, Invidia 02 Housing, Ported Intake Manifold, ACT Clutch and I am still debating to use Meth. I am hoping for 400whp on 91 **** gas, and 500whp on Race or Meth. I think its doable. Numbers though really mean nothing to me. Its the drivability of the car. My car now is kinda comprimised with the M3 cams. My car really needs a bigger turbo to really get the benifit of these big cams. But, my car is still a blast to drive. I just am wondering how long my transfer case, and 6 spd will last with this power I have now, and up coming power. Sending both my Tranny and Transfer Case to TRE may be a must to ensure reliability. The Rest is all in the Tune, and common sense. We will see, maybe after taxes this year, haha....

780s are basically maxed out on pump. 880s are perfect for 93 pump with a little room for later and DD purposes. I went with 880s w/ my FP Red setup & car is running lovely thanks to 4WS Tuning. Tamer is the man !

Mine will be on the stocker but not for very long. No more than a couple thousand miles with ZERO launches.
