hi guys. ive had my evo for bout 2 years now and it began making this weird ticking noise coming from the head. but it only starts when i begin to spool. and now when i let it warm up on idle the sound gets louder. does anyone have an idea of wat it could be or have any suggestions of what i should check first?

mine ticks. I took the drive belt off to inspect and when I put it back on all ticking stopped. this was good for about 9 months. then as soon as it started getting cold again the ticking began. not so bad though. ticks after a few minutes on cold start then goes away once you start driving it.

On the IX's there is an issue with the belt hitting the crank sensor. I don't know anything about this personally - I have an VIII. But, since you got it to go away for awhile by messing with the belt I am thinking this could be your problem. SEARCH should turn up some hits on this.
