Service Engine Soon light came on, why?

While driving home on Saturday night, my Service Engine Soon light came on. The car has 2600 miles on it, and I've done one oil change at 1700 miles. When I drove it the first time yesterday the light was still on. Now, every time I start up the car, the light doesn't come on.

Any idea why that would have gone on for a short amount of time? The car is still stock...

Could it be because I am getting close to 3k miles?

no if you really wanna know go to a mitsu dealership, otherwise disconnect your negative battery terminal for 2 seconds, and put it back on..

No, I don't believe it comes on for an oil change.

I would take the car to the dealership ASAP, or you could take it to Autozone and they will pull the code for free.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help, but if your car is bone stock and less than 3k on it thats definitly an odd situation. I would get it checked soon.

What about the fact that it's not on now? It's just very strange... I guess I should go to the dealer and see what's going on... Blah, I hate dealers!

a CEL can be triggered from anything as small as a loose oil cap or a loose gas cap all the way to a major problem. best to have the code pulled on a OBD-II scanner. or just buy one yourself they are like 100-300 depending on what you want and the features you get.

Make sure your gas cap is on tightly... #1 reason for inexplicable CELs...
