Spark tec or HKS Twin Power DLi2 Ignition Amplifier
Spark tec or HKS Twin Power DLi2 Ignition Amplifier
I am in need of a better ignition for my car, thats the only thing holding me back from making bigger numbers on the dyno.. I just want to hear from some of you that have used spark tech or the HKS Twin Power DLi2 Ignition Amplifier. I have AEM EMS if that makes a difference.
One of the main factors to consider is Reliability....some people have good luck with the DLI and some don't. I have personally seen several failures around 1500-2500miles with the DLI. However I think a lot of that has to do with it being mounted to the motor mount on the timing belt side. It's the worst location for electronics. The motor mount transmits harmonics and vibrations that wreaks havoc on the electronics.
Our entry level non-cdi has outperformed the DLI hands down and made roughly 6 more whp. Our Pro system with cdi made 40more whp than the DLI on the old FP Red record holder (Anibal Barbecue).

Our non-cdi systems sells for $650 and made a consistent 8-10whp more than stock coils at the same boost level(21psi) and tune. These results are repeatable by anyone. At higher boost levels i'm confident increases will be larger.
Our cdi based systems would be recommended for 550whp and above

I run 800hp on my DLi no missfire and issueless. Until it breaks I wouldnt even think about the COP. you can pick up a DLI II used as cheap as 300 bucks. THe COP is pretty highly priced even for the non CDI and is a real investment if you want to dish out 1100 for the CDI. IMO

I am skeptical one would see these gains on a more modest setup and that is the reason I am asking. If one can gain 40whp across the power range with your cdi on a stock turbo, then your product would be a great investment. Thanks
can you explain these results a bit? Are you saying that if i installed your cdi system on my car that i would gain 40whp across my entire powerband or just peak power? Can 40whp gains be expected for a stock turbo, green, or bbk full or only expected when running a gt35 or bigger?

Of course results will vary...I was responding to Highhats 800hp. Our entry level non-cdi system made a consistent 8-10whp over stock coils on a 03' Evo 8 stock turbo, stock 02' housing with simple bolt ons at only 21psi.
Ignition is one of the most overlooked avenues of making power in this industry. It amazes me...someone won't think twice about buying a $2000 intake manifold that makes 20-30+hp but complain about buying a 1k ignition system to ignite their mixture
There is a reason the fastest Evo's in the World run our Ignition systems and it's not because they are more expensive. These teams have already tried every available option and do their OWN R & D.

I'm not disputing if the HKS works...we know it works. There is a BIG misconception if the car isn't missing there is no Hp to be gained....We have proven this theory wrong Many times.
The Fp Red equipped car in Puerto Rico gained 40whp over the DLI and this car held the Fp Red record prior to the switch. New times coming with the added 40whp. These are actual Race teams that have opened their eyes to possible gains from a well designed Ignition system.

I've looked into the Spark Tech non-cdi system. It looks to be solid, well constructed and designed plug and play system. I'm seriously leaning toward giving it a try in the next few months.
