4th gear problem

Today I've come to work on Evo and car was running great, as always MashAllah, engaging all gears effciently.
At a signal, I launched my car on WOT and when I engaged 4th gear, car did not respond and I felt like car went neutral in 4th. I slowed down and tried 4th gear again. Stick does go in 4th gear gate but car does not move, it feels like it is neutral.
I have checked cable and gear levers. Everything seems perfect.
It seems something has gone wrong inside
Any idea what could be the reason or what should be checked to be sure about the problem?

All gears are engaging including reverse and car is driving normal on all gears except 4th.

I did not hear any kind of noise from inside box. If I shift to 4th on idle w/o pressing clutch, lever goes in 4th gear but no movement.

My car is JDM '05 model Evo 8 MR so has a 6 speed transmission and is producing +500whp. I am running QM twin disc clutch.

5 speed box will be my second preference.

Any suggestion??

Thanks.

If you’re making 500+whp, tranny is gone

My car is making the same power as yours, and my tranny died on me while doing logs, I just swapped to 5 speed

Is there any gear ratios difference b/w both boxes?
Do you feel better response on 5 speed or 6 speed had better results?

I know there is lots of info on swapping here but what I want to make sure is if tranny has died or not... Many mechanics have checked it & say that 4th gear ring's teeth have broken therefore a replacement is required.
Now I am trying to find a company which sells rebuild internals for 6 speed, which is capable enough to handle big horsepowers.
Any in mind?

Hey ,

I have a problem with not being able to engage 6th gear on mine.

Best bet is to get a 5 speed shepard box from AWD $2650 with the conversion kit for $350 and call it a day.

Thats what I have done and I cannot wait for the box to arrive in South Africa.

Just drained gear oil to see any metal particals to make sure if teeth are gone. Oil is absolutely clean. Is there a chance that there is some problem with shifting lever inside box.
If so, can it be fixed w/o opening the box?
It is a hard work to detach & open box as it takes long hrs... & labour

I have exactly the same issue with my car too. Can you tell me what happened to yours?

Thanks
