I have a ams tbe with 4 in magnaflow resonator welded in place of test pipe. Still too loud for my taste, I was thinking if replacing the muffler with this one

should this quiet my exhaust down a good bit?

Do you think having a 6" muffler where the cat goes would have a decent chance at passing emissions in Nazifornia? Seems like it would have a good chance at passing visual inspection, but how about the sniffer?

No way! A high flow cat wont pass in CA. It may look the part, kind of; but the particals that are taken out by the cat arn't there. I switch the mufflered race pipe and cat-back out for stock when i need to do emissions.

Honestly I dont know. My previous try (project hush) with the oval vibrant muffler was not as quiet as I wanted it to be. It was pretty much the same muffler as in your link, just without that tip but at the same I was using the bullet center muffler not magnaflow. I think if I replaced the bullet center it would have made a pretty good amount of difference.

But why did you choose such a small diameter (4") for the center? Thats almost like a resonator rather than a muffler. Thats only 1/2" of muffling material in the case.

Im thinking of getting either a Trust TI-R exhaust or a Tomei Expreme Ti and running a muffler instead of the cat. Do you think it will quiten it down much? What about flow? Will it kill any of that?

the shop I went to would not weld anything larger in that place, they said it would touch. That's what I might do, I have to get my exhaust rewelded due to going JDM rear, maybe I'll just have this different shop shorten the exhaust and also cut a new and larger resonator in place of the 4"

hey blue im looking to change my exhaust to buschur downpipe, with magnaflow 6" muffler in place of cat, and bullet muffler in the back. i guess the old magnaflow stock numbers have changed cause i cant find the ones earlier in this thread anymore. i did find this magnaflow 12619. im curious though cause my hi flow cat i have now slips OVER the 3" pipe following and if this is a 3" out will it not work? is their another muffler i should be looking for?

That works and is exactly it but kind of pricey.

From my experience summitracing has the best price. Just make sure you get one that is 14" case 6" diameter and 3" piping sticking out on each end totaling 20" length.

The magnaflow muffler is exactly 3" inner diameter measured. The buschur pipe is just slightly less than 3" so it slips snuggly into the magnaflow muffler.

Search with the above criteria in summit and you'll find what you need. Here is a link to one hopefully it works by the time you read this post.

I'm interested in how much power this could take before becoming restrictive. I'd love a 900hp ninja car.

^^ That's exactly what I have (thanks Armen for the idea), except I'm running a bullet muffler at the rear section.

Yup sure did...I know it's gotten quieter, but can't measure audibly how much though.

Did you get the 6" magnaflow and did it clear the heat shield/driveshaft?
