Is the car quieter with the Magnaflow vs the cat? I'm still trying to decide how to quite mine down some (buschur bullet w/HFC). I think I'm just going to bite the bullet and get another bullet muffler to replace the cat.

Pretty much exactly the same and considering the Magnaflow muffler is straight 3 inch that is pretty badass in my opinion...Honestly I wouldn't waste your $$ on another bullet muffler to put in place of the cat...just spend $80 shipped @ summit for the 4 inch magnaflow muffler...

BluEVO, I see you mention the 20" long 6" round muffler for the center section where the cat sits, however I see Summit carries a 24" long magnaflow as well, part number 12649. If you remember this, do you feel you could have gotten away with the slightly longer muffler in this spot (heat shield removed of course) or would there be clearance issues with the driveshaft, etc? Just trying to decide on the 20 or 24 and don't want to have to ship this back.

Thanks

The muffler section is 14" long and each end has a 3" of piping.

I cant remember exactly, but the drve shaft had plety of space. It was the underbody of the car that limits how long of a muffler will clear.

Just got done reading this thread, great write up. So quick question though. I don't need the full turboback and need it to fit w/a jdm rear, would you just order the magnaflow catback system and swap it w/a sd rear? Should that do the trick?

I did not modify the buschur magnaflow catback in any way. All I did was make a muffler testpipe in place of the cat, which bolted up to a downpipe and slipped over the catback.

I'm not sure what you mean by swapping it w/a sd rear. Are you referring the rear as the section with the bumper or the section near the downpipe of the exhaust?

If you order the catback that fits the JDM rear bumper, then all you need is to make or buy the test pipe part.

I was meaning the rear section w/the bumper. Buschur doesn't have the full catback for JDM rears on there, just the actually muffler. Thats what i was trying to say is i order the magnaflow exhaust system but swap out the actually muffler w/their SD to fit my JDM rear.

Buschur can make what ever fit you want.

When I was ordering my exhuast they always asked for which bumper I'll be running it so that it can fit. If I'm not mistaken all their Evo exhaust systems are offered for JDM or USDM bumpers if you let them know.

All of Buschurs catbacks are the same only difference is the rear muffler axleback section. The axle back part of the exhaust is what determines which bumper it will fit. So if you already have a usdm catback, you can still swap in a direct bolt on JDM axle back section to fit your JDM bumper.

Got a 4" resonator welded on, minimal sound change. I wouldn't bother just to let anyone else know. Going to swap out the rear
muffler sometime and see how that works

I saw the same thing with the resonator, keep us posted on what you find out. I haven't had much time to work on mine but I will pick it up again in a few weeks.

I will be adding a Borla intercooled tip to see if it changes the db at all. Big difference with the 4" muffler where the cat would be! I know it could be quieter if I replaced the buschur bullit at the rear but I like the look of it from the rear better then the magnaflow.

I dont think a tip will make a db change maybe just change the tone very slightly. But let us know how it goes.
