Emissions Question
Emissions Question
Hi,
I went to get my car inspected here in MA today. I've been throwing p0300 recently, and actually got one this morning. I cleared the code, then drove for 15 minutes or so, and went to get the sticker.
I failed the emissions part, but all they do is an OBDII check. It says that I failed the "ready for test" part. I think this is because I need to have "X" hundred miles logged with no codes before I can pass, but wanted to confirm.
The guy was trying to tell me that my car was running "very" bad, he could tell by the black soot on the tailpipe.
I have cams, so there is a slight lope, and my car does run rich. I'm hoping that if I can go a few hundred miles with no more codes, it will pass.
Does this all sound right? Does anyone know how many miles approx before the ECU will report that it's "ready"?
TIA.

Hi,
Good point, I never threw the code before when stock or on the dynoflash, but I started getting it after my retune at DSG last year. Also added some parts and had it reflashed several weeks ago. I should actually do that first to make sure it's not a problem. I have 60 days to get the car re-inspected.
Does anyone happen to know approx how many miles before the ECU is "ready to test"?
Thanks,
FB
