I would love to post a how-to but honestly I dont have the time or patience to stop after every move and take pics, sorry. I would strongly suggest against doing this job on the floor, but to each his own. You will definetely ***** and moan and cut yourself silly on the floor. just remember these quick tips-
1-the transfer case stays in the car
2-take both axles out of the car, makes taking the t-case bolts out easy
3-swing the drivers side strut/rotor/caliper to the side and hold it with a bungee cord.
4-dont think of removing the subframe/steering rack
5- you will need to remove the dogbone mount in the back of the tranny completely out
6 -the front tranny mountnd upper tranny mount will need to also be removed completely.
I can answer any questions if you like. I can have the tranny sitting on my bench in under an hour with my way of doing this job. Re-installation usually takes about 2 hours, less sometimes. Good luck!

Undestand...
I assume that EVO drivetrain could take reasonable abuse
right?? I do not aggressive launches but I do plan on tracking
the car at autox events which means one very quick upshift and
mild launches...

I'm a bit worried b/c I heard a loud pop the last time from under
the shifter area the last time I let off clutch very quickly on 3rd
gear.... I thought I might of blow the transfer case or somerthing
though car still drives fine (not that I know what to look for a
blown t-case)...

It it were my car, I would rather control the slip by myself instead of some stupid restrictor. But I also am not afraid to assume the risk of breaking parts when my foot slides off the clutch pedal too fast at high rpm. Let me add that I am not the kind of person to go back to the dealer with the restrictor re-installed and complain how Mitusubishi needs to cover the repair. If you don't plan on driving it aggressively then leaving the restrictor or pulling it out will have no affect. The difference is when you want the clutch to engage faster than the restrictor will let you.

My statement was not directed at any person in particular... nice tips though
Number 4 was the one I was going to have to find a work around for unless it cost me time...

i like exedy single disc,
i got the speed-source ss line and short push rob kit,
www.speed-source.net
makes it drive like stock clutch,

true, it's little louder noise, but it all covers by the exhaust.

I have the Twin Exedy, and with more than 100 launches, this clutch is holding up VERY well.

There is even a big difference between 1G and 2G DSMs in pedal effort. I can't stand driving with a 2600 in a 1G DSM. But in a 2G, it is perfectly fine.

I have the Exedy twin. It's somewhat loud and chattery, but pedal feel is great and it clamps like a son of a ***** when pushing the car.

Wierd clutch problem HELP

I was driving to my friends house yesterday, about 30 miles away and my clutch slowly started engaging less and less. Now it is pressed all the way to the floor and is engaaging about halfway so i cant get into gear unless roughing it with high rev's and a few grinds. The clutch pedal also sticks to the floor when is pressed down i have to pull it back up with my foot. Can anyone provide some help and information on this?

Just check out my signature! I made a clutch writeup and install how to! AND the next time around I will probably take pictures and try to make better notes.

In my mind pictures are useless to anyone that has some level of mechanical knowledge and a little patience helps too!

So I am getting the consortium of this post that the ACT clutch with the street disc while using the stock flywheel should work for 99% of all EVO owners. What is the word on here in regards to centerforce clutches? I installed one when I did the writeup, although after driving it feels like a very awesome clutch with less pedal effort and more holding power than stock. You just can't go wrong with that.
