I was told by oildoc if im using mobil 1 EP then stick with it because it is a good oil. If an amsoil dealer recommends it im sticking with it, having had no probs

#1) Don't go by what a manufacturer recommends. There are always political and monetary reasonings behind why that manufacturer recommends brand A or B's oil.

#2) Performance applications for oil is the LEAST demanding sector of customers for Oil manufacturers.

#3) Just because it's synthetic doesn't mean it technically is an APO FULL SYNTHETIC. Like Kracker stated there was a lawsuit long ago that blurred the line of reasoning and left the masses blind to the truth.

#4) You guys cannot quantitatively prove that one oil is better than another... you're all stating opinions... NOT facts.

#5) You guys might as well be arguing about which playboy bunny you want to take home... everyone is going to make their own "right" decision based on their "personal" preference.

An APO oil is going to be your best oil. An oil with less detergents will decrease your liklihood of knock. Oil's lacking in detergents have thier downsides as well... like everything it's a comprimise.

OP,
If your car is burning oil... fix your rings or seals. It's not the oil's fault that your engine is hurt.
