MB7-HDSS, 8k rpm shifts, no lock-out. It's fairly new though also.

After the install of my xtss, stock flywheel I had lockout issues. After 1000 miles it went away. This may sound stupid, but my lockout issues went away even more after i started shifting faster.

my XTSS + street disk locked me out all the time to the point where it made me doubt my driving ability

then i saw the light and switched to a Quartermaster twin and the difference was night and day.

sure the QM is a little noisy sometimes, but the pedal's light and organic FEEL, the short stroke and the ability to bang gears when you need to =

before nay sayers jump down my throat, get this - the ACT was installed by a well known shop in SoCal, so i doubt its install error. i also had all the bushings (both underhood and shifter base), clutch line, Amsoil tranny fluid and adjusted the clutch properly but to no avail, so

Contacted ACT over 2 weeks ago, via email, noting the lock out issue & their system noted a 24 hour response to my question.

Never heard from them

not for anythin but most of you guys that buy the ACT clutch buy the wrong model, how many people buy the XTSS theres ur problem right there im on my hdss with prolite flywheel, and to boot all i have is upper and lower SS clutch lines.. thats im sure most of your problem, dont rev to 8k if the clutch wont handle it.

Getting the XTSS installed. Once i break it in we shall see. I think its how its installed that causes all the lockout issues.

So the story is...
evo9 car (6-speed) with almost 40k km - "stock turbo + m2 cams setup) - several sinle disk cluthes - oem, exedy stage 1, rallyart ceramic etc - no problem at all - high rpm shifting over 7.5k...
And, I got it...ACT XT pressure plate. Install it with oem exedy organic disk - lockout after 6k - lots of adjustments - no result - just went a little bit higher than 6.5k...drive this conf for about 1k km - got vibration in cluth pedal and a little bit later - broken crankshaft (stock 9!)...after engine rebuild (to 2.3L) installed again this combo - ACT XT+OEM disk - got lockout, switched to stock pressure plate -NO LOCKOUTS but...too much torgue (2.3L) killed organic disk...switched to ACT HD+oem disk - some lockout after 7k - but mort or less acceptable (the stroker - I did not run over 7k)...and...after 3k km I felt the same vibration on my clutch pedal...the story repeated - №5 crankshaft bearing almost destroyed and crankshaft "dead"...
Now I am 99% sure the reason is ACT (or at least combo with OEM disk).
How can you blame the ACT pp when you never used a ACT disk with it? You should have ran the ACT pp with an ACT disk, not with an exedy disk and an OEM disc.

Also crazy vibration and destroying crankshaft most likely means incorrect install and/or incorrect balance of the disc or flywheel.

I've used probably 6+ ACT clutches on my personal cars over the last 15 years and never once had the lock out problem.

Did you ask the guys who installed it? RRE did my ACT clutch and flywheel 2 years ago and I've never had a single issue with it, no lockout or any other issues and I shift @ 7500

id say more times then not its due to install error, or driving error, like another .25 of a second with clutch down while shifting sometimes is all it takes, some people try bangin the gears, and might sound like bs, but the way you hold the shifter and the way you shift it can make a difference too.
