Rear Diff Options - Power Oversteer Found Here
Is there any reason the Weir kit is not included in the original list of options on this thread? I searched the thread and it's only mentioned once in the entire thing.
But for someone who doesn't drag race their car and is only looking at perhaps AX and/or Track Days some day in the future the Weir kit looks like a nice compromise.
I've searched a lot and have yet to see anyone post what this job did/might cost at a professional (ASE-certified?) shop. I don't think I want to try this myself on the street in front of my house.

Not sure I understand your question. The clicking sound has more to do with the type of diff oil you use than its "tight[ness]". TRE recommends the factory Diaqueen or Redline 80w140 GL-5 to keep things quiet. Redline 80w140 NS can be used for more lock, but also with more noise. I have not used the "NS" oil in my EVO, but others here have. I used it in my M3 and it did increase lock and noise. Hope that helps.
I really don't think I'm up to doing it myself.
You'd be surprised at how easy the rear diff is to work on. Only difficult parts I had was trying not to strip the screws on install and putting the diff back in the housing. If you have basic mechanic skills, this is an easy task.

I just got off the phone with Spence.
He said the Evo 9 OEM rear diff is a 1 way diff and the Weir performance MAXGRIP LSD Kit does not change that. He said that in order to change that you would have to change the pressure rings in the diff also.
Question answered from the horses mouth.
Awesome Kyoo. Thanks for the update.

Makes the TRE 1.5 option sound more and more like what I want.
Had my diff. plates reconfigured and the siteglass mod done at my local shop FFTECH. What a difference!!! I can get the rear end spinning by twitching the steering wheel under full boost!! Almost feels like a high horsepower rear wheel drive car!! Got to find some nice clean parking lots now, to see if I can get her to drift a little!!! One the best mods for sure to date!!!
