use a magnaflow 5x8x18 for the back/ it will be much more quiter. a 5x8x14 will still be very loud with no cat and only the small 4" round resonator. i just to have the jgt 500 and it was super loud.

i now have a magnaflow 5x8x18 in the back and i have a magnaflow 4 inch round resonator where the cat is supose to be and its way way quiter than the jgt500 but still much louder than stock

i have a magnaflow 5x11x22 in my turbo integra with full 3" piping with no cat or resanator and its almost silent under normal driving conditions.
the magnaflow 5x11x22 is really the muffler to get. u can get away with running no resonator or cat with a full 3 setup and be almost silent and its still a straight through muffler. i dont think that muffler will fit on the evo though but i'm thinking of trying it.

here a thred i started on how to make a free flowing quiet and cheep 3" exhaust

What's the model number on the 5x8x14 that you used? Will the the 14419 suggested work well too?

I just realized what you were referring to was changing the actual megan muffler i have, i was wondering if adding the 14419, in line after the cat and before the muffler would make a difference in noise. I have a resonated test pipe and megan catback, I'm sure there is a straight enough portion in the megan to weld in an 18" muffler between the test pipe and the actual muffler

Riceball777, did you keep the JGT500 piping and replace the muffler with the magnaflow? if so, did you retain the original resonator which came with the exhaust system? thx.

riceball-

I think you can fit the large magnaflow, but it will require a little trimming of the lip of the rear bumper... you wont notice it anyway, as its underneath.

I think the offset muffler will be easier to fit as well.....

I origially built a system with the 5x8x14, for me it droned like a ****... i also had 1 ~18" silencer in the mid section.

i went with 2 4x18" silencers & a muffler that was 7" round & 18" long.....it was definately quieter inside & outside....the exhaust gets heavy...but in california, you have to try & stay quiet as much as possible.

i think my next attempt at a quiet exhaust will incorporate the monster 5x11x22.

why not just get a cutout and leave the factory catback? That would keep the car the quitest while driving normal and when your going to race or want the car to be loud you hit a switch and 3 sec later it loud as ****.

The magnaflow will be better! You might even look into a 5" round rather then a 4". I got the 4" and could have easily cleared the 5" even with my car being slammed!

Do you have a megan exhaust? How much of a difference did it make?

I have a Buschur TBE with test pipe and Bullet muffler. Known to be one of the loudest and lightest exhaust on the market! I installed a 4" Magnaflow muffler where the test pipe meets the down pipe. I also changed the the tip to a Borla Intercooled. It's a lot quieter but I may do a 5x8" oval Magnaflow at the rear to further quiet the car. It's still kind of loud. The new muffler and tip make it deeper sounding which I love!

The reason I am making my car quieter is because I work with Seniors and it already look like a rice rocket, so I don't need it sounding like one too!

i did not keep my jgt500. That catback is not a true 3" exhaust. at the flange where it meets the cat is neaks down to 2.5 and the whole inside of the resanator is like 2.5 or less and the inside of the muffler itself is also 2.5 or less. i just sold that cheep loud catback for like $300 and built my turbo 3" turbo back exhause as seen and its semi quiet. If you look at my thread i made you can see that i'm using a magnaflow offset 5x8x18 muffler, 14 inch long 4 inch round magnaflow resonator where the cat is supose to be and a 18 inch long 4 inch round resonator in the mid pipe. the piping is full 3 inch alumized piping. no neck downs no chambers.

here is a pic of my integra with the magnaflow 5x11x22 muffler inlet and out lets are 3 inches and off set
