The stock cam gears have white notches toward the outside of the gear. One set of marks should align and point toward each other when the engine is at TDC.

You can see the white marks in this pic:

Point them up, cylinder #1 should be TDC I believe. Zip tie those suckers down good and don't rotate the crank mkay?

Check out www.evomoto.com , theres a cam timing write up on there. Take out your plugs when rotating the crank pulley to get the engine at tdc, it will make it spin easier. Also always rotate the engine by hand a couple times after putting it back together to double check your timing.

rotate the motor by hand until the mark on the cam gears and the mark on the valve cover match up. Check the evomoto how to when installing cams.

how can you get you cams to TDC if you cant start the car? I will check tomorrow how far they are off but i have the turbo, exhaust mani, and intake mani off the car so i wont be able to start it. Do i have to just rotate the crank shaft untill its at TDC? Thanks for the help.

There should be a crank bolt inside the the passenger side wheel well. Turn the passenger side wheel all the way to the right to gain access to it. Put car in neutral, raise the car up with a jack. Turn it clockwise slowly until aligned.

very difficult-to-read how-to.

Based on the questions you are asking I'm guessing it's best for you to take it to someone that knows what they are doing. If you screw this up you are looking at major damage. Just something to consider.

Just got done doing a boost-leak test today and bringing my cams to TDC was ez for doing it the first time. It's as simple as :
1. Take off cam gear cover
2. Remove passenger side wheel
3. Remove the rubber grommet on the inner fender lining wall
4. Grab a 22mm and turn the bolt till the white markings on the cam gear lineup with the lines on the valve , as pictured in post#4
