Which turbo is better?

I have a 04 rs evo, which if I read correctly has a titanium compressor. Which causes it to spool about 500rpm sooner. I have also considered going to a evo ix turbo, but now am not sure which will be better for my aplication. I will be happy with 350whp, mods that I will have at the time will prob be 272 cams, intake, 3"tbe, walbro 255, and licp.

Thanks for all the help

Mainly a daily driver. But would like to take to the track once or twice just to see what it runs.

USDM VIII's all have the same turbo as do all USDM IX's no matter GSR, RS or MR. So no the RS doesnt have a different turbo in the states.

Yes a IX turbo would be a good upgrade for your car. If you want to get a few more ponies on the cheap switch out your 9.8 Hotside for a 10.5 Hotside from a 05+ Evo

The mods you listed should be enough to do it. A ix turbo would
make it easier but I don't think it's needed. Just crank the boost up and a tune.

LOL, welcome to the forum buddy. There is a whole lot of reading on your part that you need to do before you get confused. The RS model sold in the US has the same turbo as the other evos of the same year.

500rpm sooner on the spool up is insale exagerated anyways. The japenese version does have a lighter compressor wheel but still no 500 rpms sooner.

If you read the entire history of Evo 8 and Evo IX back to back you will find big differences. The EVO IX turbo was enhanced significantly on spool-up(10% better than the Evo 8) so that is a gain.

If you still want to consider a good spooling turbo without sacrifice there are two turbos in the market that you must acquire: BBK Lite or FP white.

Take care and good luck!

Carlos

oh shoout flux capacitor I used to recomend other new employes 2 try and sell flux capacitors and blinker fluid 2 customers funiest thing 2 watch. I still call parts store from time 2 time and ask 4 parts on cars that dont exist. N e ways 350whp can be reached with the mods u listed and a good tune with 22 to 25 psi on stock turbo with 101 gas easy.

Visit Buschurs site and look at the staged upgrades. You will be able to upgrade without 20 days worth of reading, and they are in wakeman ohio. It is hard to argue with the results Buschur gets!
