Goodies arrived today via UPS Freight.

I was able to properly modify the Mivec cam gear to give another ~10* of timing via JohnBradley's method.

I've assembled a few of the front components tonight and will tackle the rest of it this weekend.

Items still not here:

ER Cams
Grimspeed Electronic Boost Controller
BR Double Pumper Fuel Pump Assembly
FP Black Turbo
ETS UICP
ER 4" Intake
Synapse BOV

I hope the rest of these will be here in the next 2 weeks. I don't think it will take me any longer than that to get the motor back in the car. I have to juggle homework, work, g/f, etc. It's a little difficult but all I can do is work in small sections.

I want to express my gratitude to KevinD at Evolution Dynamics here in DFW. He was gracious enough to let me use some tools to modify my Mivec gear. Great guy, extremely knowledgeable, and always willing to help.

I picked up a Tap and Die set today so I can plug the EGR port on the head. I bought a 1/8" NPT pipe plug from O'Rielly's today, but I believe it's brass. I'm not sure that will be the best material for this application. I might have to bite the bullet and purchase one from Jeg's or Summit.

By the end of this weekend, I should have the long block fully assembled.

Quick question for you guys. When reassembling the trans and block back together, do I always need to replace the throwout bearing or any other components, or can I simply reuse everything?

its fun to read full builds like this thanks for letting me know you had one i don't have time to read through much of evom anymore

also, tranny parts, far easier to replace with the engine out. if you put it all back together then find out its bad, its like 6-8 hours of labor to replace a 50 dollar part... you do the math

Why are you plugging the EGR port? Is it really that big of a deal

Disabling it in the ECU doesn't alleviate EGR completely. Letting EGR into the intake manifold will cause inconsistencies while tuning, and not to mention it negatively affects performance. It's eliminating one more variable out of my build, the right way.

BTW, Thanks Mike!

I will be running ETS LICP and UICP. I believe the intercooler that is currently on there is an ETS 3.5" core also.

I didn't know if you had a 4G64 block and you sent it to MAP, or if you bought one from MAP. That's all I was wondering you don't have to get high and mighty about it.

I'm just gathering block finding info, as I'm looking for one myself and don't want to pay $400+ for a block and crank.

Didn't mean to come off any certain way.

For what it's worth, you can get way more than $400 for your stock 4g63 block if it's in good shape.

I've come across a pretty big surprise. The EGR port on the head has already been threaded. I'll have to get in contact with MAP tomorrow morning and see exactly why. I need to get the thread pitch and diameter and find a stainless steel plug for this thing. It's WAY bigger than a 1/8" NPT plug. My 1/2" tap was a perfect fit, but the thread pitch is wrong. I'm confused.

IT will be awhile still waiting on things on the evo to come together and waiting on stm oil cooler and my new rebuilt refreshed exedy twin HD. then tuning still has to be done so you got some time before i head that way but ill let you know.

To the guy looking for a block mike@awd just got some in just pick up a block and crank from him boss. 500 is not bad at all lol you will spend more machining it cleaning it and assembly etc so 500 is a minor cost to be honest.

Apparently the Mivec check valve going into the block doesn't like the Service Manual recommend amount of torque. It just sheared off. I have to get a new one. FML
