maybe I missed this after reading through all 40+ pages. Just to get a recap., what happens if you don't use a check valve or PCV?

I am running a 10an line coming from back of the valve cover/6an line from the side of the valve cover and a 6an line coming from the oil dip stick tube..all going to a catch can.
I'm sure people have done this before, but is there a significant downside of doing it this way? without a pcv or check valve?
I hope I'm not asking a question that was answered a couple of threads ago.

Idk how people figure thats a good idea... I would assume it would pressureove the crank case under boost... I know everyone said not to about 10 pages ago...

I run with no CAT. Do you also run the kiggly HLA? I've been reading this is very useful for minimizing excessive valve cover oil loss. After all the reviews, im going to just run a tube from the top of my catch can (where the filter usually sits) and mount it down near the bottom of the firewall.

Most valves and recommend a napa part... Its an exhaust check valve... It works great. Under heavy boost i actually start pulling large amount of oil vapor out which bothers me. I'm gonna redesign the system when i get time. I wish i had mrfreds resources to log this thing for everyone...

I feel the fitting size is a bit large in my opinion but i was following advice rather then creating my own system so i went with it. If you cant get one with a 5/16-3/8s inlet it would work a lot better.

Just noticed you are running a 5/8s line not a 5/16 like me. This fitting will probably work great for you. Run your breather to a catch can... Baffled would be best... Then to the exhaust to minimize oil vapor... Should work great

Like i said mine pulls oil under heavy boost. Verified by dosconnecting it and it stopped smoking... But so lil it never effected my oil level... Just enough to make a visual haze out the pipe.
Probably what the guy above mentioned as a mess...

Ps if you have more the 1.25psi back pressure your exhaust is busted... Thats the highest allowable by any manufacture in the world... With a cat mind you. If you attempt this with a cat it will melt down and clog your exhaust pipe... The average car should sit around 0 pre cat pressure and 0 thru -4/5 without a cat on a well flowing exhaust.

I've got a scavenging bung installed. Just need to find the time to try logging a few different scenarios.

I still cant find an appropriate check valve to use for my catch can. I want to put in a check valve between the line from my IM and the catch can so I dont pressurize the can. The problem is that my lines are 1/2" ID so I cannot find something that size other than this: http://www.boombaracing.com/cv.html

Can anyone help me out? Are there any that sit inside the line similar to the check valve inside the brake booster line?

Lots of different opinions here.....

I am finishing up my rebuild and went with this
http://www.streettunedmotorsports.co...l_catchcan.htm
with the vented dipstick tube and vented balance shaft breather fitting. If I have any issues I already bought everything to make both valve cover ports -10AN.

It will be running shortly, should I be OK?

Hose? It is 5/8".

The 4 bungs (On the breather) are now -6AN, I will change 2 bungs to -10AN as well as the valve cover fittings and lines. Thought this might be the best way. After reading this thread it seems that enlarging the 2 valve cover fittings/lines takes care of most of the issue.

No, not the house I'm talking about what size to tap the valve cover for. I'm thinking about this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/10-TO-3-8-NPT-EARLS-981611-Aeroquip-Russel-SPEED-TECH-/110626100144?pt=Race_Car_Parts&hash=item19c1d453b0&vxp=mtr I'm just not sure if I need 3/8, 1/2 or 5/8 npt.

I am just finishing up my build and have been researching a catch can setup for a while now. After speaking to a bunch of shops and knowledgeable people I decided to keep it simple. I went with a -10 push in fitting where the pcv was, -6 push in fitting for the other side of the valve cover and a -6 vented dipstick tube. All hoses run to a baffled catch can vented to the atmosphere.

Reinstalled my pcv line on the intake manifold and wow, my idle is way more solid, clean, and plain ol steady vs trying to make it up with the biss.

For me I will continue to use that type of set up for now on.

Good to see a pvc install made you car run better... I guess auto engineers know a lil bit about cars after all...

Also to eviltech: thats a 3/8 npt fittig... You can grab the taps from habor freight for about 15bucks... They help if you ever remodel an bathroom too...

I remember my car idling better when removing the PCV and going to my VTA catch.
