Another clutch quest.....
Another clutch quest.....
I recently baught a used 06 rs with 30k on it, the last schmuck who had the car dimolished the clutch, i removed the tranny and to my dismay its blown to smitherines!
Not only is the clutch gone but the flywheel is in the worst shape i have ever seen.
Now im in the market for clutch and flywheel, i have my eyes set on the Fidanza 2.1 with the Fidanza light weight flywheel. For the price i would have to pay for that set i could easily go for the Exedy twin disc setup right?? My question is would the Exedy twin disc
be to much? My hp goal for the rs is 400-450 hp to the wheel.

I've seen the Fidanza 2.1 w/ flywheel for ~$1000 & I've seen most Exedy twins w/ flywheel ~$1500 at best, so it's not exactly the same price.
Most people in that hp range either go Excedy or ACT. That being said, if those are the 2 you're dead set on, I would go twin for sure.

Uhh, a Fidanza 2.1 and CCI flywheel should set you back like $800. A far cry from what an Exedy Twin will set you back.
I had a Fidanza 4.3 in my MR before the transmission went. I would highly recommend the 4.3. Don't waste your time with the 2.1. Yeah it's kinda grabby because it's a 6-puck but the pedal pressure is seriously IDENTICAL to stock. Not bad for a daily driver at all.

what about the exedy pedal feel, will i have one larger calf muscle when im done with the break in period? and by the way the cheapest i have found the the fidanza clutch with flywheel is $1000
and the cheapest i have found the exedy twin disc is $1200, there not that far apart.

One thing to consider you might not know is the exedy comes with a flywheel. Other kits the flywheels are separate for the most part.
The fidanza lightweight flywheel is an aluminum/steel sandwich and is only 1 pound lighter than the ACT prolight which is 1 piece steel. The prolight has most of the weight removed from the outer areas as well. I would recommend the ACT over the fidanza.
There was a thread a while back where a guy had the ring gear on the outside separate from the flywheel on a fidanza unit. That can't happen to a 1 piece steel flywheel.

Fidanza

ACT prolite
Another thing to consider is a light flywheel makes starting in first gear and moving around parking lots a little more difficult. For ease of low speed driving a heavier one is nicer.
