Yup. I haven't really posted why or anything yet. Not sure if I'm going to to......I'm just over it.

What extra expenses?

none really. just a water pump spacer ($30) or a modded water pump from english racing.

Cam gears are useless on evo IX's (And technically its a cam gear no plural, lol)
I'd need a new headgasket to get my car back on the road anyways. I was close to needing a new waterpump/timing belt so those aren't really extra's for me......its stuff I'd need anyway

If I'm basing it around turbo choice i guess FP Black for the cost savings. I like the 6262. I only rode in a journal bearing 6262 and it was fun. I would imagine the BB version would be even better. I've seen good things from the HTA86.

I guess my thing is if I can ge =t the same performance from a 6262/HTA86 with less boost but it performs close to a FP Black then I would go that direction for sure.

you want to embarrass him from a roll or a dig lol the black is a great turbo but you should no its not going to have as much top end as that 6262 car you rode in awd made 700whp but that was a shop car with prolly ever trick in the book done to it you can make 600+whp on pump gas (dyno jet) with a 6262 or hta3586 its been said that the hta turbos are good for a extra 10% in power over a percision but they are also a more costly.

Me, for quick spool and large, streetable power would do a BR 2.1L engine with an HTA 3586/.63.

I don't like the idea of a large displacement 2.4L engine pushing through the relatively restrictive 10.5cm MHI turbine housing. Robert Young noted that excessive turbine inlet pressure was quite a problem on his 2.3L, FP Black equipped car. He even went to the extent of using an external gate, constantly open, jerry rigged as a pressure relief valve(post-turbo) on his downpipe.

I feel that the black has more under 4000rpm hell even 5000rpm than the 86. That being said if you are concerned with your car feeling zippy and quick I would not go 6262/3586. Most dyno charts I see of the 6262/3586 are dead in the water until about 5000 and start to get going about 5500 but will hold the power all the way out. Obviously the black wake up sooner but make less power lb. for lb. of boost. and I don't think it will hold out to 9000+.

Just bench racing here though. I have never had either a FP Black or 3586 but want them both.

for guys that have a good core block(the one currently in my car) would it be a cheaper and easier route to go with a 2.3? sorry smurf if this is off topic, I am looking at doing a build before I blow up the one I have now.

well not really as you still have to machine block buy rods pistons bearings etc so since you have to do that anywho its better to sell off your oem for money to offset cost pic up cheap 4g64 block and crank for 500 or less then go to town or trade your block in as core charge to shop like buchur ams English racing or map to them to
build you 2.3

i have had a red and now a black and see no need for a 35r for now. the black continues to impress on several peoples builds. and if your brave enough you can send it to owens development and have a BB conversion done on it . if you care about that stuff
