I hear what you are saying man. If I hadn't already gone and bought, and installed a Red....I probably would have opted for the new HKS turbo as well.

That oil issue has me wondering too. Why did FP design the Reds and Blacks with two dissimilar bearing metals(bronze and steel) which require certain, specific lubricants anyway? Duh!

I am running an FP Green with HKS cams its fun but its not very much power however its the old school green.

There are quite a few options in the "35R" family and different housing sizes. Not all of them act like the 3586. I ran the 86 on a stock 2.0l and power is only a gear away.

I think boost was around 27. It has been awhile, but I get 200 smiles per gallon. When I pass someone it makes me smile for about twenty minutes.

what rpm are you seeing full boost?

also anyone else with the reds? what rpm do you see full boost and how much ?

That 1.06 t3 twin scroll housing looks to be a good option on a 2L set-up, hope to see more of them maybe even with the new GTX3076R...

Do you guys think the red would be more reliable on stock block? Because red will make more hp than tq?
almost every hta green thread I have been in. Their motors blew Im guessing its because of the nasty tq the green makes!

I think for that same reason the red fits the stock block better...the tq is not as aggressive as it is on the HTA green...however, with proper tuning you can control how the tq comes on...here's a good example

Well I drive an 04 sti so I know the same rules don't apply to that engine as the 4g63, but my experience with the FP Red has been awesome. I make 477whp and 460wtq on 93 and meth. Never a hiccup out of the car. AFRs are about 11.6 tuned with the AEM so really its all about just having a safe tune... I have a friend with an EVO 8 running the Green and his block seems to be holding up just fine. I think he's had it on car for about a year now. Can't remember the numbers of the top of my head though. If you're worried about torque popping your motor, why not just throw in some ARPs and call it a day? My block has Mahle pistons, ARP head studs, and Cosworth bearings. The bearings and pistons are a must in a suby since the pistons are not forged from the factory and the rod bearings have been known to spin in cars at or over 500whp. Stock Sti rods are forged though so the bearings are really what needs to be upgraded. I think the red is a great dd turbo though for the power and spool, and can be used very reliably day in and day out. On pump I only tuned it for 15 psi and it makes 380whp so it's extremely conservative.
