New BW EFR Turbo Thread
we just received a pleasant email from emp, the driver of Sierra Sierra's evo. one particular part to note:
"On the Power front....wow did we have them covered. I don't think anyone was close to our 298.9 km/h down that short front straight. Thank you Cosworth, Borg Warner, Turbo Smart, Royal Purple, Full Race, And Okada......I can't begin to express how exhilarating that power is." -David Empringham

I'll have a better idea once i see the graph later today.
If the dyno is not being used i'll try and get a graph posted up but i don't think it's finished being tuned
Welcome
All tuning is being done on pump E85 as we only have 91oct here in CA
Def sounds like the Evo is making gobs of power
Hope to hear from you tonight or later this week!

We hit a limit of 32psi of boost and only reving it to 7300 rpm +/- and it put down 540-550AWHP on our MD so obviously lots more to go. Sean said he'd like to run closer to 40psi so i will be in touch with Geoff sometime soon to see what we can do about getting the WG to hold more boost
The 9180 is a MASSIVE turbo, something like a Garrett GT42!
Also, the SSE evo this year is very light, they shaved 800 lbs out in comparison to 2010 WTAC!

Speed on the straight is a small part of the equation, maybe with a small turbocharger SSE would have made a better time...

No doubt there is more to it then straight line speed. I was coming from the perspective that they feel response on the 9180 is fine so either the Cyber Evo has some crazy advantage in weight...or...who knows as the SSE EVO is pretty serious business on aero, suspension, and brakes.
No doubt, a smaller turbo could go faster, but I seem to remember reading a motoiq blog where they had the smaller 8374 on and then tested it against the 9180 and the 9180 turned faster laps?
800 lbs lighter? You sure about that as looking back the car was like 2750 last year.

I suppose... it is the forums...and we're all discussing a turbo we don't have. I guess it's fair game.
I suspect SSE wasn't prepared enough for the setup the car ran at WTAC and they suffered a failure due to lack of testing. For making nearly twice as much power as the Cyber Evo, they certainly didn't hustle the car around the track respectively as fast. Something is amiss.

If those high speeds were recorded on the final session before the gbox broke, maybe they were on the way to a pants fillingly fast time and the previous recorded times were just an indicator of its potential?
