Just an update for you guys. I tried this mod ^ since I had the springs for years sitting in the garage. My boost at redline went from 20.5 to 23.5psi.

Thanks for all the help.

The only time it becomes a problem is if you start to overspin the turbo. 420-440whp seems to be the safe limit and under a 32ps....Mikey
Mikey is right. Since shortening the wastegate actuator rod may induce some boost creep then you have to be prepared to remove the turbine housing and port the wastegate bypass port for better WG flow.

Are you relocated Mikester? I wanna come visit once you have pinpointed all of the local pubs in the area.

Ecu boost is easier I think.
I'm peaking 26 and holding 23 to redline on a 9.8turbo, stock dump, stock cooler and piping.
Just downpipe back exhaust and intake.

Seven and eight turbos taper less than IX turbos for some reason. The IX turbo is just the worst with respect to boost taper.

Funny story... Robert and I were talking about that and we believe the larger compressor cover on the IX may induce more boost taper in higher rpms. We were going to put a VIII cover on my IX just for the fug of it to see what it would do but never got around to it.
