E85 Question

This might of been answered before but ive looked and cant seem to find anything. I have a Fp Black turbo with 880cc injectors and a walbro 255 i wanted to run e85 not for power reasons but just because its MUCH cheaper and i think i can get some better gas mileage out of it. Would there be an issue of switching between e85 and 93 octane on this setup? would it actually clean out my injectors and i would benefit from doing this? im not planning on going into much boost when i run e85 im already at my motors limits right now on 93 + meth.

you will get worse gas milage, and last time i checked NJ had two gas stations that carried e85.

you would lose milage when switching and you might need to get bigger injectors since i dont know your power your running now and it flows 30% more than normal gas from what i can rember.

To run e85 you're going to need to pay for bigger injectors, fuel pump, and a dual map tune. Even though e85 is cheaper when you fill up, it burns much faster. You're also going to be picking up more power from it, since it's like 105 octane or something like that.

I'd stick with what you got.

currently, 450 hp 400 tq. My only concern is ive been told by multiple friends 93 octane will be hitting $5 a gallon by the summer...

1) You will get worse gas millage

2) You will not be able to run e85 with those size injectors running an fp black

3) Since your gas millage will suffer, the savings per gallon vs 93 is pretty much nullified

To sum it up...stick with 93

im making my power on a single wally with E-85. basically going to E is for making power and i only went to it since there is a station thats 6 miles away from me and i dont go on long trips. you will definatly need bigger injectors like what everone else is going to say for the power your already making.

Do not switch to E85 for money saving reasons. It will be more expensive per mile to drive on E85 if you are doing city driving and stop and go. If you are doing mostly freeway it won't be that bad of a drop in gas mileage.

I get 11-13 mpg city driving and stop and go traffic. I can get 17-18 on the freeway when the road is not congested. So do your own calculations based on what your driving routine is like. Don't take anyone else's word for it because we don't know your commute.

Secondly, for most people if you compare E85 to 93...E85 will be more expensive to drive on. But and this is a big BUT. You really need to compare it to race gas prices. E85 is 105 octane. You will make a **** ton of power on it compared to 93.

So the extra cost to run it is worth it for most people. But if you are doing it for just saving money reasons, then don't do it because you will spend more money on parts, more money on fuel and you will probably mash around more and waste more gas. But it is a lot of effing fun and puts a smile on my face everyday.

For your setup you probably would want a BlaqOps Double Pumper and 1550's.

Definitely cleared a lot of my questions up! Appreciate the detailed response. I will be sticking with e85 for a while til i do my new engine build.
