Where exactly do you look to try and tell if the housing is indeed bigger than the 10.5cm housing? I've been examining the two side by side, and honestly I can't see anywhere it looks bigger except for the wastegate ports and the turbine outlet.

From the side by sides it looks as if the valutes are a tad bigger on the 11.5 housing...

Yup that is what I concluded. More bulging is evident I believe in the pics I took.

ratsbud,

Your picture is kind of deceiving due to your old hotside being so nasty, my hotside is in pretty good shape. Here are the comparison pictures I took. I've had multiple people look at it and unable to tell a difference in volute size. It is possible since it is a different casting that it may have more internal area as the casting can be thinner, hence the weight difference (or possible A3N is lighter)?

On second thought, after looking at these pics... one of the volutes looks slightly bigger on the 11.5 but is hard to notice in person. My bad

wow, ur's looks similar in size.... i still think the new unit looks slightly larger.....

i wish we had a 9.8 vs 10.5 pic compare, to see where the oem unit is visibly larger, to see if this hotside followed similar practices.

instead of side by side, can you put them in a row, sitting on the exh mani / housing mounting face & take the pic looking down?

Lined up the casting marks, and made straight as best I could.

To bad I don't have one of these in hand. I will have a Evo IX turbo Friday coming from a 9.8 VIII and I have full time access to a mustang dyno and would be willing to do back to back to back comparisons comparing evo VIII 9.8, Evo IX 10.5 and Evo IX 11.5.

Definitely could have a true result here. I am considering picking one up just to see.

I would compare same injectors on the same boost and tune and even keep all stock components in place including non ported turbo outlet and non ported manifold.
