Yeah but its a royal PIA to work with honestly...the laptop is SO much easier.

If it were me, I'd go with Electromotive......but only for the very reason that I have had one on my car for about 5 years now (TECII), and have done lots of them, so I know my way around it very well at this point.

My other choice (if money were less of a consideration to either myself or my customer) would be the Motec M48. Dead on stable software, and even though its a tad archaic (and everything is ala carte, making it pricey), their tech support rocks. Of all the ecu's I taught myself, the M48 was the easiest to get working quickly.

My understanding was you could use a laptop or the dash mounted unit on the microtech..which made it very versatile...what about the microtech made it a pain in the ***?

I did not like the dash mounted unit personally.....my LINK on my Subaru had a similar system....I foudn myself rarely using it, as changes werre much faster with the laptop, and I could change more variables at one time.

George! I was wondering when you were going to weigh in, especially with that beast of yours running AEM... You gonna take it easier now to make sure the bugs are worked out before turning up the boost?

No, actually mine seems fine, i talked to AEM. It is not a bug, it is normal for teh stock egnition not to hold. Autronic might be fine, but AEM might not be. Different hardware. People should consider upgrading either way.

I am waiting on the intake manifold so I can turn the boost up, actually, just to boost over 2-3 psi

Guys are we all looking at the same thing here.
Al, i'm using your post just as a point not that it may be right or wrong. BUT its a pic of the compressor side. WHAT does the turbine look like?
How is the "heat" going to cause what the pic is showing.
And why , pesto, did the car go to HKS? All this doesnt add up to me. There is alot of info missing here.
Why cant Frank or anyone who put the car together , disassemble the kit and see whats up?
Z1 also asked about the filter element. What about it? What kind was it?
Also i dont think he ever meant it was coming from the intercooler to he turbo. More like the MAF piping to the turbo like i said about 100 posts ago. But anyway thats been cleared up.

Really strange thread.

Hese talking about the turbokit going to HKS and not taken apart by SFP. Adam cleared up the minor brainfart. He didnt mention the filter brand but stated it was clean and all parts accounted for as well as the MAF pipe. And quit skimming

Still would love to know what kind of filter was on it - that could ahve alot to do with it (or if not, would possibly narrow the possible culprits). Clean or not it could make a difference.

As for aftermarket coils, there are several options...thats the least of the issues here IMHO.
