Exedy Twin Problems.. Clutch pedal vibrations!!!!

Exedy twin SD, installed new about 3-4k miles ago. The clutch pedal was adjusted and a Fork Stop was installed (1/4” space). Other that the normal twin noises and cold (very cold) weather first gear hard engagement, I haven’t had a problem….. Until my track day.

Half way into my 4th session, I started to feel clutch pedal vibration. The vibration starts as soon as I put slight pressure on the pedal and it goes away when the pedal is all the way down.

With the pedal all the way up, no vibration whatsoever. As soon as I apply slight pressure, vibration starts (a lot of vibration). The more I push the pedal down, the less it vibrated; and it went away when pushed all the way to the floor. While this was happening, I had no problems shifting into gear or driving.

Since I wasn’t sure what was going on, I packed and went home. 45 minutes into the drive home (stop and go traffic), after shifting, the pedal only came back up ½ way. While shifting (only this time), it felt as the clutch didn’t completely disengage and I slightly grinded 2nd gear. I pulled the pedal back with my foot, thinking this is it, AAA time. To my surprise, the vibration went away completely and drove all the way home (another hour+) like nothing ever happened…. And still driving like nothing ever happened!!!! Some footage from the event http://www.vimeo.com/23883554

Anyone experience similar problems?!!

I would try to re-bleed your clutch line. Make sure everything is tight (i.e. the lines are tightened down and that there are no leaks around the crush washers).

It could be the slave cylinder, or the master cylinder (which is much more rare) is shot.

Also, the transmission has a hole in it to release the throw-out bearing, take the rubber grommet out and look in it with a flashlight to make sure things are working properly. Have a friend push the clutch in and out and see what happens while you are looking through the hole.

Just went thru this. In my case it was the TOB vibrating in the bearing tube. (where it slides in)

My clip had come loose. I let it go to long. That damaged the TOB. I switched to a QM with hyd TOB.
