World's cheapest 2.4L Build
I expect you won't keep the rods in the block. They are not the same as the evo rods, much weaker. Also your bearings in the 4g64 will not be to happy with a turbo... High milage bearings wont last with the turbo. All in all, I don't think it will last long. Sorry brother. you should at least do a drop in rod/piston combo. If you are interested I can do a cheap eagle/JE setup for you.

You can use the stock rods or put in your evo8 rod, go to club 3g and thegalantcenter to look up information, your going to have to get different piston if your going to put the evo8 head on it you could possibly put a Hyundai head on it and build that with evo parts

Thats weird we have stock motor 3g's that have been turbod for over 4 years still running strong with 170k + on them.

I wouldn't say they are weaker, just a different stroke, I think the evo rods are just as weak under a 100mm stroke compared to the 88mm stroke the 2.0l has, and yes there are galant and eclipses with stock engines

I find it funny that the people who are majorly opposed to me building this stock are trying to sell me something. It says right in the title of the post, WORLDS CHEAPEST 2.4 BUILD. If it blows up, so what? If it runs strong, great - I've found a way to replace a blown 2.0 for $600 bucks.
RPM is what is going to be the downfall of the rods, so as long as the car isn't over revved often I really have nothing to worry about.
duh2150 - I was under the impression that the stock evo head would work.. if it doesn't, and I need to change pistons.. I may as well change the rods too.

the stock evo head works we do it all the time, it brings the C/R to like 11.5 or something or you can buy a Kia/ Hyundai head and it will actually lower the C/R to like 8.5:1 if you use stock 4g64 pistons if you use a Kia head you can just swap all the evo8 stuff over to it, that's mainly the cams and gears for the timing, but for cheapest 4g64 stock engine should work

i think the list is broken but there's a evo 8 head swap list on page 3, Kia one is almost the same list
this car is definitely going to been some tuning

RPM is not the problem, torque is. The head will fit you just obviously need a tune!
I thought the crank angle limited the rpm a rise in 18mm extra stroke makes the angles greater in both directions and that's why 4g64's can't go over about 7200 but with the 2.0 l you have yourself a different crank and less angle
I am not sure about the oem 4g64 pistons having the correct valve relief indents for the dohc evo head .You can find out by just looking at your 4g64s pistons and googling evo 8 pistons and clicking the image button. The 4g64 should be only revved to 7500 . You want oil squirters ( not oem in 4g64 ) to rev to like 8500-9000 as well as better valve springs and balanced rotating assembly to rev to 9000 ( without reliability/longevity being an issue ). The increased angle has little to nothing to do with it.
well hey man good luck on it i wish ya luck, but hell if you got 600 to burn n a toast stock engine whats the worse that can happen. ur *** out 600 like u said, fu*k it haha, i hope it works out should throw a bbk green or fp red on that 2.4 l see how much power u make haha
