Bad Effing day. Car Jumped Timing

Ok. Car was in the shop for 60k service. After service was complete new tensioner went. Car was at idle when it jumped timing..It shut off.. I am going to assume that a valve is bent. So pulling the head. I have 269 cams with oem valves with WORKS Valve spring and Ti Retainer kit. Shop is fixing everything for free they offered to put in BC valves. I am not sure it makes sense but IDK enough to make a solid decision. I have rebuilt the head on the evo when i did the cams. I am also going to upgrade the head studs while its open.

Question is should I stick with OEM vavles or go with BC valves stock size. Also what else should i be concerned about?

Stock valves are pretty high tech, Hollow exhaust valves filled with natrium. If they're willing to throw valves in it, opt for some ferrea or super tech valves.

Had this same thing happen to me, I went with ferrea 6000 series.

Good luck.

The idler fell down. So I was wrong. Went to the shop to look over the car. I am not sure how many teeth it skipped but the head is getting pulled sent to a machine shop for inspection and getting a complete rebuild. Shop is doing the stand up thing and cutting zero corners and making it right. They are a good place and I understand things happen. Just glad they are honest and willing
To make it right

I had one tooth jumped and bent most of the valves in the head. I had new valve stem seals, valve guides replaced and had the valve seats cut. Im using the all the Supertech stuff in my head now.

They got a good deal on BC valves so that is what they are going with. Replacing all the valves just not bent ones.

If its at idle, then a bent valve is usually the worst thing that will happen. You should be good. Glad the shop is honest and taking care of it.

I had one jump at idle before. Same thing, didnt tq the damn tensioner pulley bolt down.

It bent 4 vlaves and cracked 4 guides. You better inspect the guides carefully as well. I went with supertech bronze valve guides and ferrea 6000 valves.

Inconel is where its at for any extreme temp, that's why they use inconel alloys for turbo shafts and fins and what not.

Supertech valves are great especially for the price. IMO, they are just as good as Ferrea but costs quite a bit less. I would see if they would go with Supertech. Also, definitely have the valve guides checked. Since you said they're doing a complete rebuild, everything should be taken care of then.
