Drive Terrain SLOP
DriveTrain SLOP
Im putting down a little over 400whp and after launching a few times at the track im noticing some slop in the drive terrain. Clunking noises coming from the rear mostly and just overall play in the entire AWD. I was told that Rear Bushings would be something to look at.
My questions is: What all modifications to drive terrain (linkages, axles, etc..) should be made to hold up to launches and what exactly could be the direct cause to look into minimizing the slop?? Anyone with experience or advice with this I'd appreciate your input.
THANKS

You can put an Energy Suspension polyurethane kit on (cheapest route) or you can buy "hard" bushings that are made out of aluminum, for the rear end (particularly the rear diff mount bushings)
STM, Lancershop etc... all carry these items
Either will do the trick...

Great product for someone trying to git rid of that "clunk" on hard shifts. But remember a cheaper/ more forgiving solution (on drivetrain) for Evo's putting down lower HP/TQ would be the polyurethane bushings.
Thanks for feedback im looking into them now...whats the difference between polyurethrane bushings vs. Hard Aluminium? Price vs strength?
If you could provide links to any specific parts you have installed and had good results please do

As far as hard vs Polyurethane bushings, I would not put hard bushings in a DD vehicle. The whining or rubbing noise on deceleration has been well documented. The Energy Suspension (or Works/ Whiteline) bushings get rid of the "clunk" while keeping the noise to a minimum.
Here is 2 interesting reads about rear diff bushings.

Look in to drive shaft bushing as well. you have a solid motor mount on the left side of your motor. not sure if you have a front one or not. check out this as well https://secure.buschurracing.com/cat...oducts_id=1091
