Quartermaster 8 leg question

So I've broken this clutch in and I noticed that the engagement point had gotten a little higher (close to the top) and it was making it a little difficult to drive.

I adjusted the pedal last night (it was all the way out due to a previous shop trying to resolve an issue I had with a previous triple) moved the rod back up a few threads and it seems to have alleviated alot of the issues i was having. I'm hesitant to adjust anymore until I can either get it on a lift or put it on jack stands in the garage.

My question is sometimes i like to engine brake. With this clutch I find if I don't rev match as I'm slowing down it sounds like the wheels are hopping......is that normal with this or is there something that needs to be adjusted?

Also on take off it seems it alternates from moving off smoothly to almost wheel hopping (or sometime small wheel hop) from a dead stop. Is this also normal.

Finally I assume the squeal is normal. My Carbonetics Triple sounded like Ninjas sword fighting but this is a fairly audible squeal.

Looking for people who have "experience" with this clutch to chime in. Thanks in advance.

Ok. I got the same clutch. Mine did the same thing, I had to adjust the rod too after awhile of driving. The hop is from an aggressive grab/pressure. It also happens. When I downshift it howls and hops if I let off quickly. It "squeelz" when you let off when shifting up (I think thats the bearing touching the fingers), and when I turn the engine off it sounds like a rod knocking on the engine. But when I press the pedal and shut it off there is no noise.

My $.02

I've had the old QM and now the new one..

I rev match on every downshift.. I couldn't imagine downshifting and not rev matching I did it once when I first drove the old one and never did it again.

If you don't have a pedal stop it is recommended. Actually my old one didn't have one and I have one with my new one. I probably wouldn't drive this clutch without one ever again. Takes the guess work out of where it's gonna grab etc and prevents you from messing up the pressure plate.

noise on decel like a "rattle" is normal.. this one is a lot quieter than the old one. The squeal is normal.

Mine squeals like that, and always has. It's just the noise the clutch makes.

For the difference in rattle- I'm sure that has more to do with the newer 'gear-drive' hub'd disks vs the 'hardened' hub ones. I have the older 6-leg version with the newer gear-drive disks from the 8-leg and the different disks made a world of difference in noise and engagement feel.

Yeah I guess the carbonetics triple carbon spoiled me on downshift. Ok good as long as what I'm experiencing is normal.

Waiting on a clutch stop from ToxicFab but I'm being very mindful of how far I push the pedal. I have to get soem minor work done soon so I may ask Spec-Ops to adjust the pedal properly when I take it there in the next few weeks.

Thanks for sharing your experience guys. I'm not going crazy and I'm not so paranoid.

I think I experience a boost leak of some sort (hard to tell since going SD). I'll have to go chase that now.

Don't mean to jack this thread, quick question though.

I've been interested in this clutch since the day it came out. Does anyone know the proximate mileage that one can get out of these clutches? Thanks

Def get a clutch stop. Makes hard shifts feel more secure/firmer. I have an AMS throttle stop and will be waiting on Collin's magic clutch stop
