Yes, owners with built motors that require special/custom water pumps don't have this bolt on the end of the pump, the intake manifold does a good enough job. Buy the Evo VIII water pump like I did it works the same.

thanks so much for posting this. just did mine ordered all through rockauto except for the timing tensioner (OEM) and saved almost $200. Also good to change the drive belt while youre doing the timing belt. Gates brand part number K060705 $22.67. Mine was looking bad so i changed it out too.

i hate to bring this back from the sorta dead, but FYI: you can get all of the above listed stuff at any Napa Auto Parts. Gates is the "in-house" brand for Napa belts and hoses. Continental is also an option at Napa. if you can borrow someones AAA card(Napa offers a minimum 10% AAA discount), you can get the stuff even cheaper.

since i've stumbled upon this thread i will update it from work tomorrow with the Napa part numbers and prices, as well as AAA prices.

yes, i work there. no, you probably wouldn't believe my discount lol

figured i'd make a new post. heres the Napa(Gates) part numbers and prices for my area, along with the AAA prices, to give you a reference on the 20% or so discount

Timing Belt- 250167 $55.69 AAA- $46.35
Balance Shaft Belt- 250168 $22.59 AAA- $19.35
Timing Belt Idler Pulley- T42017 $39.59 AAA- $32.40
Timing Belt Tensioner Assembly- T43130 $163.99 AAA- $134.10
Balance Shaft Tensioner Pulley- 60501 $23.09 AAA- $19.80
Balance Shaft Tensioner Assembly- T41038 $37.79 AAA- $31.50

Great thread! This will save me some serious $$ as my car is due these belt changes.

Also, Dayco is a major player in industrial belts and hoses. They were recently bought by Parker (Hydraulics), one of the largest players in industrial hoses and fittings.

Our maintenance crib is chock full of Dayco belts for our machines.

Hey guys!
I have a IX MR with 60k miles, with little modification(pipe, air filter, tepra, boost controller) and need to change the timing belt like recommand.
I see that you guys are just not changing the timing belt but all the rest...
It is necessary or it should be alright just to change the timing belt?
