Ok, your application list has some errors. I know the newer style (flipped in the engine bay) 4G64s don't work for DSMs so I'm pretty sure you can't use a DSM style one for an Evo. So if you want one out of an Eclipse you need to look in a 2000-2005 Eclipse RS/GS or 1999-2003 Galant DE/ES/LS 4cyl. The only 2G Eclipses that had the 4G64 were non turbo Spyder convertibles, which again I think won't work. Coupe non turbos used a Chrysler 420A.

What type of pistons/rods can be used on this setup? Can evo rods/pistons be used? Also I'm a ebay shopper so I've been seeing some pistons labelled as 4g64 w/ 4g63 head and I'm wondering if this is the application that they are referring to

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Wiseco-Pistons-Mitsubishi-DSM-4G64-with-4G63-Head-Turbo-K654M87-8-5-1-/271167054375?pt=Race_Car_Parts&hash=item3f22d0e227&vxp=mtr
I'm from C3G and have been looking at this setup and trying to get more information about it.

Wiseco Pistons Mitsubishi DSM 4g64 with 4g63 Head Turbo K654M87 8 5 1 | eBay

Be careful. The DSM 4G64 is for the old eclipse/talon. This piston will not work. This is for the DSM 4G64 with the Eclipse 4G63 head. I will attach the Wiseco piston spec sheet to the original post for piston selection. Make sure that you check the 4G64 EVO 4-9 sheet.

I have the K626M87.

The rods will work. You will need to select the length depending on what crank you use.

The pump that AMS uses on their setup is an 03 outlander pump. For the evo 8's you have to trim down one of the bolt bosses for the alternator bracket, for the 9 you won't have to trim. AMS normally supplies a spacer to slightly space out the drive pulley, as it sits ~1/16" or so in, but I think there may be enough room to run it as is, I haven't gotten mine in yet.

It will move the rear pipe ~3/8" or so away from the block, but that shouldn't be much of a deal.

This is perfect timing, I am currently in the process of building a 2.4L . Your write-up was excellent but of course most difficult part-TIMING, is one thing I'm trying to understand better. I will be going with the evo9 belt so when degree'ing the cams and according to your first post it would be a retard. Do you know the approx amount? or can you lead me to some links that could help answer that.
Thanks

There is a link in the original post. Its from AMS. Its right above the pictures. It has the timing mark for using the 4G63 belt.
